@nauticads asked me a question about my Salamence Holo card. He noticed that according to Bulbapedia this specific card should be a Non Holo Rare. However yet it appears as a holo.
Don’t suppose anyone can shed some light on this. I two am confused. I never noticed before until Nauticards raised the question!
This holo card is another version of Winner Promos. There are 2 of them, the other one has the Winner stamp on it and the other one doesn’t. So it’s not an error but PSA just doesn’t seem to label it as a Promo I do have the same card as a 9 and it’s not labeled as a Promo as well. The set version of this card is a non-holo indeed.
Hahah no problem Here are all the English versions of the card:
I don’t know why is there a stamped and a non stamped version though. They used to do this with quite many Winner Promos back then. The non-holo Flygon from the Ex Dragon set had the same treatment, it got a stamped and non-stamped holo versions as well.
We maybe allies now, however cometh the day the last fairy pokemon dies, the skies shall scream with furious thunder while the oceans will turn red with blood and COKE will taste like PEPSI… Dragonite and Salamence shall do battle with fire and brimstone! The Unstoppable force vs the Immovable Object!!
I always assumed this was a theme deck variant. The ex Dragon theme decks were flygon and Salamance. Flygon already has a normal holo but that’s not what first time it’s happened where the theme deck was a card that already holo. Manectric from ex Emerald is the same.
I just checked it and actually Crawdaunt and Roselia are holos on those decks for some reason. There was no special versions made on these decks which is weird, as Crawdaunt and Roselia are holos on the set by default… I found a list with exclusives and seems like on the ex-era those started only from Team Magma vs Team Aqua set
