I am ENVIOUS!
It’s insanely hard to compete with American sellers while trying to make a buck myself.
A tracking number costs me €16 as opposed to €3 or so with no number, that’s 5.3x more expensive.
Luckily you get an ‘insurance’ of a whopping €50.00! /sarcasm
I get insanely annoyed at people who refuse to ship internationally simply because of cost. I have, and will pay top dollar for something I really, really want from overseas. And frankly, I have yet to find a postal system that is as expensive as it is here in Australia.
As far as I’m concerned, sellers have no damn excuse. It is a massive pet peeve of mine when people don’t want to sell to me simply because I was born in a different country to them. As silly and irrational as it sounds, it feels like a racial attack. :x
I really don’t think it’s because you were born in a different country or are of a different race. It’s more so they don’t want to have to deal with having to ship it internationally because there is more too it and people are lazy. It truly makes no sense - if I am willing to pay for the shipping, then ship it! You’re making money either way! That is why I offer world wide shipping and will ship anywhere as long as the buyer pays for shipping.
I always offer international shipping. I charge $4 which is the cheapest method which does not include tracking.
I think most sellers do not want to be in the situation where an item is lost. I had an item delayed in brazil but the buyer thankfully received it. International buyers should always pay the insurance, especially on valuable items. When I purchase something of value from. Another country I always look for express/insured shipping.
I know it isn’t, but it feels like it. And I don’t like that feeling. :x Like I said, it’s irrational but I just can’t help but feel that way.
I’ve shipped international plenty of times and never had an item lost. If the item is valuable I charge for tracking/registered post. I see no reason why sellers cannot offer the same thing.
They don’t have an excuse apart from laziness. And it pisses me right off. >_<
I just do the Ebay option “Cost varies by buyer’s location” and they usually end up paying exact shipping based on whichever shipping service I selected for the item.
Lulz, every time I send something to Brazil it gets delayed. I wonder why
I use to always offer international shipping, but people don’t always contact me before bidding and pay for their item before I can invoice them the correct shipping price. So they pay for the shipping to the US… >>; And on top of that I’ve had 3 things get lost in other countries and the buyers refused to buy tracking and/or insurance and then of course I had to refund them and lose the cards. Once I had someone blow up on me because they had massive import fees. They blamed it all on me and opened a case with eBay because their shipping ended up being crazy. Thankfully I won, but I still had that lovely case on my record for awhile.
It’s not that it’s harder to ship internationally or that I’m lazy or that I don’t mind making people pay for their shipping, it’s just I’ve had many bad experiences and I’m tired of dealing with it. But I have learned and now I NEVER ship internationally without tracking and/or insurance. Good thing is, if people don’t like that, they don’t bid on my items.
Yes you can make separate prices for domestic and international and the such. But the thing they are debating is whether to make the international price always include tracking, which would make it very high, or leave it low and without tracking
The person I aimed my comment at mentioned something like foreign people paying US shipping fee.
She could’ve made them pay the higher fee for international shipping.
It could be that I’m completely mistaken here, but that’s what I would do.
Oh well, if you start selling something somewhere, you’ll always have some ‘damage’ from doing things in a non-optimal way.
I’ve started selling on eBay now and have been juggling with my shipping prices all over the place.
But now it’s all going pretty well, tomorrow I’ll send my third and fourth package this month.
Uh-oh, even more ‘trouble’.
This time I sold a Birthday Pikachu for $75, great!
Only thing is the buyer made his account yesterday (or a few hours ago, timezones…).
So he has 0 feedback, makes me kinda nervous since he took the BIN.
What should I do?
Yea, I should have had it in the description under shipping…
I started selling on eBay not too long ago, so I didn’t account for every little thing.
I’ve sent the guy a message and he wants a tracking number, now I just need to get him to pay for it.
In my experience it’s the getting them to pay for it that is the problem… I have found (generally) that new eBay members seem to think that they can buy items and pay for them a month or so down the line. Or they just decide they don’t want it anymore and never pay nor respond to your messages. :\
