I rarely sell on ebay so i’m looking for advice on this situation. Today a buyer opened an “item did not received case” on a particular order. In the message he did not ask for shipment order or tracking information, he just said he did not receive the item yet and he wants the refund now. If that does not sound sketchy, I DO own tracking information (aus post standard register number) for that order and it stated that the item was delivered. The log-in date on the tracking matches the date that the item was sent. And this was the only item that was sent to that particular post code registered on the tracking.
In other words, the tracking date and address matches to the buyer’s order, and the tracking said the item is delivered. Now the big question is, how big of a chance that eBay will take my side if i provide the appropriate tracking number, and is it possibly that i can report the buyer and get them banned for hoaxing me like that?
Ahh I hate when this happens. All the best dude. My advice is you should upload tracking number as soon as you have sent the item and send a friendly message to the buyer informing them of this, as it can slightly reduce chance of scammer and increase chance of eBay taking your side.
Now can you please share the eBay username for this order I want to be aware of their scammer ass.
Having the same situation here in the US. Buyer says he will open a claim because he has not gotten his cards, even though uploaded tracking says otherwise. Normally in these cases eBay will side with the seller as the item has been shown as Delivered. Though of course on the buyers side, there can be human error due to postal worker mistakes and such. Its so many factors really unfortunately.
Agreed. The buyer is probably trying to take advantage of Ebay’s buyer protection assuming you didn’t pay for tracking. The tracking information showing that the product has been delivered is clear cut evidence supporting the seller. Hope this helps!
Hello I am new to this site but know a little bit about eBay. That being said: The best way to avoid being scammed by a buyer is to always add signature confirmation to valuable shipments. You can add it to the shipping cost or eat the cost but it’s well worth it for peace of mind as PayPal also sees signature confirmation as a key point of evidence of a shipment being delivered. That would be my best advice for not getting scammed on eBay. Hope this helps in the future… I am always looking to hear what others have to say on this subject, being as scammers are always trying to figure out new and more clever ways to scam.
Yes I totally agree! The signature confirmation is a huge for paypal. What I also do, just in case, is take pictures of me putting the item into the package and taking pictures of the package fully sealed with all the proper labels. I send the pictures to the buyer immediately after shipping. This is mainly done to help keep the buyer happy and keeping them more in the loop, but it also tends to demotivate scammers to try and say that I shipped something the wrong item. And I keep the pictures until after the item has been delivered and the buyer is satisfied. If a case is ever opened with either paypal or ebay, I would then be able to provide them with the pictures and the tracking information.
This sounds like a case of a buyer assuming you don’t have tracking because it was never uploaded, therefore by him opening a case and telling ebay he didn’t recieve he would automatically win if there was indeed no tracking (which right now he thinks there isn’t.) I would say reply to the case to ebay, provide the tracking information to prove the item was indeed delivered, and they SHOULD side with you then. You can also say the buyer had no communication with you, didn’t message you and never tried to work out a resolution. Be very professional when talking to ebay and you could even say you forgot to upload the tracking but you definitely did get it and proves the item was delivered. Hope this helps.
