eBay Bucks / flash deals and sales megathread

I haven’t had any eBay bucks ever since I upgraded my eBay account to a store. What the heck

I haven’t seen eBay bucks in a LONG time. These random credit card things seem to be all I ever find anymore.

Maybe if consumer spending dips and eBay needs to pull people back in, they’ll reintroduce them? Who knows

Rakuten still has the 1% on all eBay purchases which is nice. But I miss the bucks

I actually have had a negative eBay bucks balance for over 2 years now. I used my balance, then a card came in that was completely wrong, so when I returned it I went into the negative

You should also be able to stack this with a discounted gift card. Topcashback pretty consistently has 3.6% back on eBay and the cash back tracks/posts very quickly in my experience

There is a limit to the amount of gift cards you can redeem in a month, I think it’s $1500

$50 off a $250 purchase if you have a .ca account

Clutch thank you :pray:t2:

Another Ebay deal that rolled out to some accounts, so you’d have to check your email. One of my accounts got it, the other didn’t.

Spend at least $10 on Ebay Live, and you get a $25-off-$50+ purchase coupon to use four times (total $100 off $200).

I did my one Ebay Live purchase yesterday, and they say the coupon takes two weeks to deliver.

Dumb question, but did you buy a BIN or an auction style? Offer’s been cycling through for me and last time I tried I didn’t get it, but that might’ve been me screwing up timezones.

Not a dumb question at all—it’s really unclear in the actual promotion.

I tried a BIN during an Ebay Live event the first time I got the coupon. Two weeks passed, and nothing. So I called customer service to inquire about why I didn’t receive it despite seemingly fulfilling the requirements. I had to call a few times, but I ended up with a nice lady one time who seemed to have a little more influence there, and she said she’d follow up after looking into the matter (big kudos to her for actually following up a few times—thought she would just blow it off). During one of the calls with her, while she was trying to troubleshoot, she mentioned she had seen some parameter like “auction_style = false” or something after I had mentioned I wasn’t sure if BINs qualified. While following up, the offer expired, so I figured if I get it, great; if not, whatever.

But the offer rolled around again (sounds like it’s coming in and out for you too), so this time I tried an auction-style purchase (which was a god awful experience—I really don’t like these WhatNot/livestream auctions, since you have to wait for a card you actually might want to overpay for, and I wanted to go past the $10 threshold as little as possible). I purchased an item July 18th and got this email three days later (and this wasn’t due to the nice lady’s help):

So, long story short, it isn’t specified in the original promotion, but it seems like the purchase has to be an auction win during an Ebay Live stream.

Thanks for the response! Guess I must’ve screwed up my timing/timezones then because I bought an auction style that was solidly over $10 and didn’t get it.

And yeah, I definitely agree on the WhatNot style being annoying. I decided to go for something I could resell at break even or a small loss since I have most of the modern I want, but this was way harder than it should be because people were constantly bidding up cards you could buy at $10 BIN to like $20-30 easily. A direct quote from me from the last time I tried to get it:

why are people paying 30 bucks for non holo first eds that go for 10 bucks ??

The link in the original promotion email specified which timezone the promotion period would end. (Mine is below, but don’t know if it’s different if you’re not on Pacific Time)

If your purchase seemed to fall in the right time and fulfill the requirements, you could always be a squeaky wheel and try to get customer service to help (a frustrating experience in its own right, but $100 off total seemed worth the trouble to me).

As an aside, I’m fairly (but not completely) sure customer service didn’t help push any approval for my qualifying purchases through to grant the coupon in the end. The lady did say that a number of other people also had issues with the same promotion though.

I knew it was PST based, but to be more specific this was during one of my periods where I completely break my sleep schedule and lose all track of time. It’s been a while since then, so maybe I’ll try again and hope they ironed out the issues.
