I thought Shining would take it for sure. Nice spread of variety amongst the higher-ranked cards though and can’t be mad at the fantastic 151 illustrator being so high (although I didn’t expect it to get THAT high and beat Shining…).

I prefer the left-side version for the art being more centralised. The other one being off-centre Sugimori art for no real reason bugs me. It’s why I also don’t “get” Erika’s Venusaur.
i understand if it was an “either or” type of poll, but the fact everyone could vote on any art they like and so many people chose one, but not both is just baffling.

Majorly disappointed in the opinions here on mewtwo. Also there is irony of the top 2 mewtwo cards being of mewtwo from behind when there is so much hate for shining charizard.
I do like 151 FA mewtwo but compared to the great arts it’s so mediocre. People like it because of the cityscape, the mewtwo himself is generic and isn’t stylized. And for shining to beat out GB or Masago is insane, absolutely insane. How. Most bland shining card there is, no style. At least even charizard is stylized.
I expect this outrage to be redeemed with a favorite muk poll asap. I look forward to that. We can do grimer after.

The pose works great for a lot of card illustrations, so it’s not about that. Yoshida’s barebones backgrounds in Neo 4 made it far less interesting than it could’ve been

The irony is that the background has never, not one single time, been the criticism. It’s always been the charizard’s behind card. I am pointing that out, not using that as the reason I personally find it overrated. His pose has nothing to do with why I stated earlier that I think it’s overrated.
All the shinings have bare backgrounds, but some are stylized and do something special, others are bland.
On another note, for the record I think all those cards you used are horrible except for VS and delta
