I’ve noticed that not many people here seem to like normal tag team arts. They hardly get any votes similar to any CGI RR rarity.
I’m slightly surprised at that. I get there’s not much context besides 2 Pokemon being in the illustration, but Arita is great.
That it was a more common RR GX, reprinted twice into a Starter Set and Tag All Stars, and overshadowed by a much more desirable rarity tier; had probably been internalised before considering the illustration itself. Arita Tag Team GX’s are an excellent collective art set, not so much individually
I think that’s exactly it. In these polls, the types of cards that do well are either iconic/significant cards or cards that have some kind of narrative structure built into the artwork
Compare the storytelling of these two.
There’s nothing wrong with cgi as a medium but it’s almost always used as this generic art placeholder and I think the arita tag teams give off a similar vibe
i agree. one thing i think that holds them back is how up close and personal the art is.
the pack art, and especially the extended pack art as seen on the playmats are insanely nice and would likely place much higher if they were used instead
Good result imo, especially with my two personal favourites placing in 3rd and 4th.
