I remember being annoyed when i bought my skyridge gengar holo for 50€ that it was so expensive compared to other holos in the set. Bought gyarados holo for 8€ and that was after pokemon go was released so not sure what happened

Good spot, I am indeed in Denmark currently, though I’m from Scotland, so wotc English cards did me just fine!
This deal ended up being $250 incl international shipping and insurance to the uk. And as a bonus, past me had the future sight to keep 1 of each box sealed!

I passed on buying a case of skyridge sealed boxes because I didn’t want to spend/really didn’t have but could have the money. $300 a piece around 2009. ( I bought 1 at $333, and nice, but DANG…)

As many people here did, I bought lots and sold singles but kept what I wanted to keep. Occasionally I would buy full sets. I bought a full 1st Edition Neo genesis set for $220. It was all NM or better. It has produced 4 PSA 10’s and 5 PSA 9’s. And that’s all I’ve graded. The ten’s are already known due to photos I’ve posted, but they were:
- metal Energy, pop 16 or so
- Azumarill pop 33 or so
- Lugia pop 42 or so
- T18 typhlosion not super low pop but idk where it is.
Slowking I think is a strong regrade to 10 candidate. But $220 for the WHOLE set including C/UC/R. What a time it was.
I bought a first edition dark blastoise for $2 at my LCS.
1st Ed base set zard $300. Graded 7, and sold after holding for 4 years for $800. One month later was the first price jump to $2400. Was a sad time seeing the price gradually increase every week immediately after selling 
Incomplete, but almost all foils Gym Heroes 1st Ed set for $38. Many graded/will grade highly. Only missing like $10 C/UC/R.
A friend bought all 1st Ed shadowless foils in gradeable 9/10 conditions for $30 each. A few got 10’s.
So many other great deals, but that’s the gist.

Back in 2017, can’t comprehend the prices…
Graded some of these back in the day, Charizard from Ex Power Keepers and Jolteon got the PSA 10, Charmeleon, Gyarados (Holon phantoms), Deoxys (Holon Phantoms) and Typhlosion ex got a 9.

Having only reentered the hobby in 2019 this is the best I can do!
All three of the EX TRR Dragonites were NM 
Maybe if there are enough brave souls we could do a thread for the most you’ve overpaid for an item in contrast to the current market value???

For some reason I only have two emails from 2013-2014 back when I was completing my binder sets but back in that time frame I bought a complete NM unlimited base set for $125. 1st Ed Jungle + Fossil complete NM sets for $65 each. I built complete binder sets of 1st edition (except for base) and unlimited sets of base-Neo destiny for what feels like basically for free.
I stopped collecting from 2015-2017. Started up again in 2018 with some graded card purchases
As others have said, it was a totally different time. I wasn’t thinking about value or stonks or anything else. Nearly everything was widely available and at very low prices compared to today. I love to be able to return to that time so I could pick up some things I missed out on but that’s life

I walked into a V-Stock and was shocked that I found two minty Charizard GS for the price of what just one was going for at the time (~$50). Picked up both and IMMEDIATELY sold one to get one for “free” and bought another gold star. One of many stories but at least I took a picture with this one.

there are some price comps still viewable on the interwebs of psa 10 crystal charizards and such selling for $100-200 like 15 years ago

It pulled a few of my favorites from eBay.
Sadly eBay records only go back to 2017 for me. Wish it went back further. Definitely a trip down memory lane. One of these hurts to look at 
Overall I could never complain about my collection, any card that I sold went right back into collecting. Eventually ill have to do a collection thread update.

Funny how you’ve send a screenshot of that old reddit post I answered when you were googling for Danish Pokémon cards, yet the part about Denmark isn’t in your screenshot. Here a link, and a quote for anyone else interested:
As for Denmark: no Danish cards were ever released. All cards released in Denmark are in English as well. There are however two English cards that were released exclusively in Denmark and Sweden, which are the non-Holo EX Delta Species Larvitar and Dratini with stamps, released inside Donald Duck magazines.
There were also both a Dutch and Danish winner for the 2001 Tropical Mega Battle tournament, but they received English copies of the Tyranitar Half Deck instead of their respective languages (source, including the three threads mentioned at the bottom).
