E4 Secret Santa 2025 [PICTURE THREAD]

Suprise delivery this morning!

Whoever you are, I’m very very thankful. I haven’t been having a great time recently and it was a great start to my day!
I appreciate I’m probably not very easy to buy for, but everything is perfect and well thought out. Don’t worry about the other cat accessory missing, Kiki is a little unwell at the moment and couldnt have worn it anyway. Coco however is enjoying her Vulpix era.

The Arita clear file is 10/10 also. It’s one of those things I’ve been watching for a while but couldn’t justify buying it as I had no clue what i would use it for. Having it gifted is the perfect excuse.

Thanks again, and happy new year everyone!

I’ve been in LA the last few days hanging out with family there and and got back on Jan 2nd at 6 AM.

Checked that night to see if my gift box had come through, and it did!

Get ready for a very long opening journey gift and word count wise.

Preface - I started collecting Pokemon cards again in 2021 because of eevee heroes/evolving skies and the eeveeloution alt arts. Prior to that I collected from base set up to ex Sandstorm. I still kept up with newer gens of Pokemon as they were released. I have none of my original cards from childhood.

My household has no collectors in it. My niece and nephew were into Pokemon and the cards a few years ago but are growing out of it, and are almost fully out. I don’t ask for TCG or Pokemon items from my family for my birthday or Christmas because they don’t understand and think it’s stupid that shiny cardboard is worth anything more than a few cents or why I’m so into it.

Finding e4 has been so freaking cool. Connecting with people who are actual collectors first and foremost, and to be part of an actual community. Even though I still lurk way more than I post/respond.

After finding out about this event months ago I could not wait to join and went through years of SS picture thread posts. I also reached out to Fouthstar a while back with some proxy card gifting related questions.

It wasn’t even about getting things but more so being a curator for a fellow person who is passionate about the hobby and what makes them happy.

Seeing the reactions of people and the whole vibe is exactly what the holidays are and giving are all about.

That being said:

My Santa delivered so damn hard and so much I’m still in shock.

Everything was so well thought out and it shows.

I am glad I am not a person who makes videos because it would have been about half an hour long with a holy f**k, holy s**t, f*******k, or that’s f***ing sick about every minute.

And about 20 minutes of cut footage of me just quietly staring at some of these art pieces.

I got a big ol’ priority mail shipping box from a person I was not familiar with and correctly assumed it was my SS gift.

My secret santa was @A.P.Speeze

Inside my fat box was a smaller box and a wide flat package!

The mew box is very nice and has a very silky finish on it.

Definitely keeping that to put things in. Mew is also my favorite mythical.

The long horn wrapping on the ‘open last package’ got me wondering what they taste like and if they are leaner than angus.

@A.P.Speeze also wraps gifts with insane precision.

I am very impressed and jealous (not joking) of his skills.

The first thing I pulled out of Mew made me audibly go “Ha!”

Inside were some sweet things to kick off my ripping journey.

A nice silhouette of the best Pokemon ever designed in Christmas attire and a great written message.

Happy to know you’re a Kamonabe fan (now) and also enjoy Digimon Beatbreak! The way it’s going it may end up being my favorite Digimon season of all time.

No need to apologize for the wait! We were all on very tight time constraints and at the mercy of external vendors and shipping times.

There was another envelope in the Merry New Year one that had this baby.

As a 90’s kid I love lenticular things. However, I dislike Pokemon lenticular items because they are just lazy stock art images, or cgi art like the new lenticular jumbo cards in the Mega era or that lenticular Deoxys so many folks seem to love :face_vomiting:. This is the first time I had seen an exception to this.

This one not only has original classic Pokemon art, but seeing Pokemon interact like people doing things at at a Christmas party really sets the tone. Squirtle would be the one popping that :bottle_with_popping_cork:

The lenticular 3d effect is very strong at emphasizing spacing and what is in front of of or behind other subjects in the piece. I took a few minutes just to really look at this piece and appreciate it.

A new signature card of Kanda’s Absol doing the the ‘wussup’ handshake (with bonus doodle!) is a welcome addition in my signature card binder page that started at the e4 meetup last year.

Next up we have sacrifices!

Never mentioned it but am a lover of coffee and coffee flavored things and have a prominent sweet tooth. Never had those Hi Chew flavors either

These sugar babies will likely not be making it to next weekend. RIP

There were 6 gifts in the Mew box with no numbers. So I used an online RNG to give me an order to open the goodies instead of doing my own selection process.

Gift 1 -

I’ve always loved Digimon and Pokemon and am a lifelong fan of both. I actually love Digimon more although the only one I collect is Pokemon cards but I’ve slowly been dipping my feet into collecting the Digimon tcg. Many monsters I love, much more affordable higher rarity cards (for the most part), and you get more art per card even on commons because of art area size! I did not specify any particular cards I wanted.

I was blown away seeing the illustration card contest pack. I know 2 different contest packs had come out and they had phenomenal arts although I wasn’t sure which booster had which cards (each has specific cards and aren’t randomized). Ripped that thing open right away.

All types of various art styles and Digimon greeted me.

The 3 below were my favorites.

Patamon chomping down on those apples in the intricate light and shadow of the trees.

Gammamon being given a peach- Japanese woodblock aesthetic combined with thick outlines

And Lilymon drawn in an art nouveau style with such saturated yet soft colorwork. The circular windows to the right of Lilymon from bottom to top are easter eggs of the evolution line that eventually turns into her. The three circles to her left are the 3 possible mega level Digimon she can turn into. Been wanting this card for a long time. Easily in my top 5 arts for the TCG.

The Charizard envelope holding the next set of cards is a solid work of art in itself and will be going on the art wall

Inside the envelope was a whole set of the main 8 Digimon partners from the first season. All are done by the same artist in a very cute style. They feature each mon with their crest worn as tags which is a very nice touch! (except Tentomon, (the red bug) his is isn’t visible due to him being sideways)

An Agumon and its prevos Koromon and Botamon around a Digimon vpet toy take center stage.

These make such a nice binder page :ok_hand:t5:

Starting with this gift and the entire time after when I was opening everything I was teary eyed. I’m used to buying all my own collectibles (which I am not complaining about) and not really having anyone in my personal life who get it or are interested in what I collect and why, people just see it as a $$$ thing since Pokemon has been hot on and off for a good while now. So getting things is a whole new type of experience.

Gift 2.

A hefty card sized brick of a package.

You are right on the money with this card. I’m still working on the binder. This gift I was not expecting at all and it will make a solid dent in the Oops all Vaporeons binder.

This is the only Vaporeon card art I really liked in the SV era. Was really happy it got textured in Japanese to highlight the water it is standing in and the Cosmos holo in English. Both treatments are very well deserved.

Gift 3. Biggest package -

Opening this one I saw 2 Japanese new back cards and 3 more wrapped items.

In my excitement I forgot to take pics of the contents after removing the outer wrapping paper

The Japanese cards were the Psyduck and Golduck promos that I have been wanting since they were revealed, these look so good in person!

The other 3 wrapped items were all slabs!!!

The first was Leafeon - I have every Leafeon variant from Prismatic (all pulled by me) except the pokeball reverse. Not sure if it’s a coincidence or I mentioned it somewhere but now I can check this card off of my Kuroimori collection list! Love the texture on this!

The next one was this piece. Never seen this card (any variant/language) in person and damn is it something else. Can totally see why Yuu Nishida won the 2019 illustration contest (did not know this was how she got started in the tcg). I generally do not agree with the illustration contest winner(s) picks. The exceptions being Jiro Sasumo and now, Yuu Nishida.

The intense sun in front and muted colors behind Gardevoir darkening the saturated the pastel colors in the piece is masterfully executed. This one also got a few minutes of my undivided attention.

The next slab was Kariya’s Espeon in a textured Pokeball reverse. The Gold pristine slab is always a nice aesthetic touch to any card. This card gets elevated from texture so much since it breathes life into the fabrics Espeon is chilling on. I feel like I can touch that pillow.

Adding texture to commons was such a good move in Terrastal/Prismatic. They need to bring this back for all special sets!! (but without taking out ARs/IRs in the future)

Gift 4. The next gift was one of the smaller packages and had this note and another solid art envelope hiding surprises inside

I love this Espeon piece by Tika Matsuno and the cosmos treatment. I only had one copy of it before but now its got a tribe.

Vaporeon and Espeon were the most spoiled eeveeloutions of the swsh era. Every single one of their (non CG) cards was phenomenal.

Next up we’ve got a Gardevoir in mid attackby Ryota Murayama, this is what a real disco holo looks like people!

The Bye, Bye Butterfree holo Topps card caught me off guard. The Bye, Bye portion of the message totally went over my head.

This episode made me cry the most as a kid aka every time I watched it. Seeing this card really hit me in the feels. I’m guessing you saw my rewrite of the episode on the forum. If so, kudos to your snooping prowess!

Gift 5.

It is highly unlikely for people to ever share the opinion that a specific thing is the best.

Especially with something as long-living and expansive as Pokemon. On this one though, I wholeheartedly agree with you.

These stickers were made to celebrate the 5th year anniversary of Pokemon GO

Each one done by a different artist

I remember seeing 2 of these artworks on Pokemon’s X or Insta (the first 2 posted below) and loving them when they came out.

SUSHIO

Alaska Haru

Hirotaka Tanaka

TAO

Inio Asano

I was pissed they never released postcards or posters of these artworks. I never knew they had released anything of them at all.

The last 3 were all new to me.

@bbobrob the 4th sticker has Hoppip and the 5th has Jumpluff

The first and last ones are my favorites out of this group.

Every one of these is so detailed and cool, with varying amounts of Pokemon sprawling in every direction with the panorama viewpoint yet feeling deliberate and not overwhelming. You can hold it from any side and it looks correct.

I am going to frame these all together.

I saw the way people were drawn in the last one looked oddly familiar style wise. I looked it up I found the last one was done by Inio Asano who is the Mangaka who made Oyasumi PunPun, which is an incredible story (one of my favorite mangas) with highly detailed art to match.

While researching the Asano one I found out the only official larger copies released of the artworks were in the form of full page ads that had been put in newspapers in Japan in January of 2022 with 5 different areas in Japan getting 1 of the 5 artworks exclusively.

I was able to find and purchase my 2 favorite ones, the other 3 they are currently not on the net or somewhere I have not looked yet.

Gift 6.

Easily the best Chikorita card ever made in my eyes.

I have been digging these mirror foil reverses since they darken the rest of the card and really make the art window pop out. Had not bought the English reverses of these yet. I was going to buy a ton of these as well and you sent 19 my way, so it’s another card I can scratch off of my Kamonabe card list!

Open Last -

Dude. Holy [Insert 20 cuss words here]

Inside were 2 smaller packages. Once I saw that symbol I was expecting a WolfSkullJack cover.

The other item was nondescript.

I saved the variant cover for last and opened the simpler package first.

Wolfskulljack. She is an artist I have been following for years. Discovered her because of some sick Metallica concert posters she had made. Learned she draws for Magic as well.

so many things!

3 dope art prints, two sick stickers, and a signed card.

But wait!

it isn’t just a signed card it’s a freaking artist proof with Purging Stormbrood sketched out on the blank back!!

Then I opened up the sealed comic book to see this piece.

Such a gorgeous rendition of Ashiok, the melty effects on the front skeletons is so pretty.

I’m just in awe. I just sat there looking at everything for a while.

You went so far above and beyond, I would have happy with any single one of these gift packages on their own.

Thank you so much

I’m glad the cards could fill some gaps in your collection! I had fun doing the drawing haha, I wanted to do something slightly silly and fun. The Japanese Exeggcute and Exeggcutor have been in my collection since about 2016 when I bought a big lot of mint holos of ADV/PCG sets. Feels right to have the pair go to a collector who will appreciate them the most.

I noted in your present description how you enjoyed sampling products from other places, unfortunately I ran out of time to add something like that in. However please hit me up if you’re ever in Adelaide and I’d love to give you recommendations for breweries, wineries, restaurants, markets etc

oh my. the wolfskulljack stuff is absolutely awesome. Thats such cool art and right up my alley! I’ll have to check them out. Wolves are my favorite animal, and I like skeletal stuff. And their name literally fills both those interests. Wow. Thank you for liking this artist, now I’ll have to look at their stuff.

Wow, I didn’t know Digimon cards had art like that now. I remember the original TCG art was very Base set-ish in that regard. The Lilimon art is phenomenal.

It’s cool that Digimon is coming back thanks to the popularity of Time Stranger.

Yesterday I got my Secret Santa gift in the mail! I filmed the opening because I thought it would be cool to share the joy of opening with my secret santa @Quuador, but later I realized I forgot to record the audio, doggonit! Instead I’ll share screenshots from the opening below.

Opening your gift brought me wave after wave of joy because I felt that your selection of gifts and art really spoke to my collection goals and demonstrated careful stalking and consideration :slightly_smiling_face:

Waffles!

Stroop wafels with a little greek yogurt are a top 10 delicacy in my book! I don’t think these lasted more than 24 hours :joy:

Right Up on The Fridge!

I love the creativity that you put into this art! Treecko popping out of a present with a matching belly stripe ribbon looks so good! But the snowman weedle is the cherry on top 👨‍🍳💋

It’s funny because I remember responding to you talking about finishing your art piece in chat, never suspecting that I would be the lucky recipient!

A Whole New World

One of my favourite parts of collecting is finding new cards that I didn’t know existed. This next gift scratches that sweetspot for me because I never saw this sealed set before! This is the first of two examples where I felt that you chose a gift that catered to both of our collecting interests; mine for trios and yours for pikachu collecting. This gift celebrates the Venn diagram where our interests overlap and that feels special. The same is true for this next gift :backhand_index_pointing_down:

Two Worlds, One Family

At first I saw that you gifted me a sealed copy of the Aoki error Moltres black star promo, and I said “makes sense, he loves this art.”

But then I noticed that you also included the zapdos and the articuno as well! Again I felt you bridge our interests as collectors, it’s weird to say but after opening your gift, I feel closer to you and your collecting journey. These promos are deeply nostalgic to me and this gift checks a big trio off the list! :white_check_mark:

Every Gift in This Package Tells a Story

This set of trios is another thoughtful connection. Earlier this year I posted two heracross and beautifly cards in the connecting arts thread and you jumped in adding that many of the cards in that movie promo set are connecting arts. Including the johto starters and the creation trio promos. I love the way that chikorita is using their headleaf to slice a daikon bigger than themself. Another great gift, that really makes me want to watch the movie now!

Meganium Prime 4

Anyone playing the new metroid?

I'm smiling as I type this because I love the pose in this meganium art so much. Now it's cozy next to my feraligatr prime that I graded myself. Just need to traack down the typhlosion to complete the trifecta! This is another very thoughtful throwback to the prime thread earlier this year, where I was one of the few people who admitted to enjoying the prime cards. You knocked it out of the park @Quuador!

Signing Bonus

A very merry xmas from a prolific pika and an excellent signature card.
Thank you @Quuador for your fabulous gift. It made my day and I absolutely love it :gift: :christmas_tree:

Santa’s Smorgasbord

In addition to this great gift, I appreciate you for your generosity of information and spirit. For always sharing high quality posts and consistent kindness I award you the kipper token!
I’m looking forward to another great year!:moon_viewing_ceremony::sparkles:

I’m glad everything arrived without any issues and it’s to your liking! It was fun coming up with unique trios for your collection, partially using my duplicated stack and partially stalking your thread for the perfect gifts to buy.
And as you mentioned, it’s fun whenever collecting interests partially overlap. You see a little bit of your own collection in someone else’s, even if the overall goals are very different.

A little late for a Christmas gift perhaps (also partially my own fault, since apparently it was already ready for pickup from the 14th and I hadn’t noticed. I asked Ethan to notify you when I did, which was already second Christmas Day (whoops)). But Merry belated Christmas (and Happy New Year) nonetheless, @banks. And of course everyone else reading this.
Hopefully I’ll comment in this thread soon again once my own package arrives. :face_with_peeking_eye:

Greetz,

Hello everyone, this is my first year doing E4 Secret Santa! I’d like to give a huge thanks to @ptccards for the gifts!!!

The first thing I noticed after I opened the package was this note with a stellar drawing of Torchic! I felt like I recognized it from somewhere but I couldn’t figure it out…

After opening up my gifts, it was pretty clear, however! I had always seen this puzzle on the Pokémon center but I never justified buying it.

Here’s my progress on it so far - it’s been tougher than I expected! Lots of similar colors.

Next, there were some delicious chocolates…I may or may not have devoured them all already

Finally, I got some packs to open! Two theme boxes!

Here were the hits out of the two boxes:

I laughed at the fact that I got the Black Kyurem…I got the jumbo and the stamped version as the box promos and I guess fate decided that I needed to complete the set :joy:.

The Chansey is such a good (and shockingly expensive) card: somehow I had never seen it before! It’s going right into my half-abandoned TWM master set and I’m very glad that I don’t have to shell out $30 for it!

Once again, thank you so much for the amazing Christmas gifts! I’ll put in some more work on that puzzle in the next week or so :cowboy_hat_face:

Hello e4! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Just got back to Manila after a pretty relaxing vacation in the province only to be met with @veks’s very generous and incredibly well-curated giftbox! My expectations have definitely been exceeded. I WAS GENUINELY OVERWHELMED OPENING THIS PACKAGE! veks you are too kind :sob:

I love your inclusion of snacks and some Taiwan-exclusive merchandise! Really opens my eyes to a whole other world of Pokémon marketing despite our islands being so close together. Currently munching on a Charizard chocolate rice crispy snack as I type this (so good!)

I also love your artwork incorporating all three of the Pokémon I listed, genuinely such good art! AND I WILL CHERISH THIS TOXEL GASHAPON TOY! You’ll definitely spot him in some of my collection posts going forward!:index_pointing_up:

And speaking of collection, you’ve hit the nail with every card! Love the artwork in each and every one, and was BLOWN AWAY by what you included in the “Open Last” gift! Rest assured that these cards have found themselves a special place in my collection!

And I’ll be dedicating several pages to all of the cards you included in this package in one of my binders! Thank you so much, this has genuinely made my day.

Hope I get you next Secret Santa so I can return the favor! This WILL be a tough act to follow, though. Again, thank you so much, @veks! 聖誕節快樂!新年快樂!

Hello Joan!
so glad it is well received in your hands. Thanks for adding everything into your collection and curating them so well. We have a very similar collection so it is great to meet a fellow collector of similar artists. Best wishes to your collection journey!

Hello e4, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I just got back from visiting my family in Europe and had a nice surprise when i got home!! I got my secret sand package from @pokemike22 !!

The first package was a bunch of cool ralts, kirlia, and gallades with a couple Topps cards (I think their topps im not sure tho)

These are really nice and are gonna go well with my gardevoir collection and in my tcg deck lol.

The second was a very useful assistance to the start of my ex sandstorm collection!!

Im really happy with these cause so many of these older cards feel impossible to find.

The 3rd package was also great! Some holos and ARs of my favourite pokemon!

(This is my 10th orthworm AR lol)

Last but not. least and probably my favourite thing of all was the drawing!

Overall this was a really nice a thoughtful and nice gift full of suprises. I had none of these cards and its really cool im able to add them to my collection! (I need a new binder to add all of these)

Thank you so much again fro the gift @pokemike22

I got back from the holidays this monday and found a package from @TorterraSimp on my doorstep. Thanks so much for the amazing gifts. I love the old EGM magizines, I don’t have these yet and both of them having cover stories on Doom and 7th Gen consoles is amazing. I really loved the Raichu drawing and the individually themed wrapped card based off my favorite gaming franchises, it was a really nice touch. I always wanted a Rudy promo too.

To answer your question, you cooked! Lol

Starting the year off with a bang! Thank you @eevee_alex for an amazing secret santa gift and artwork! I’m shocked at how amazing this piece turned out. Neo Umbreon is one of my favorite artists and cards! The texture, the colors, the Santa hat, the swirl. Chef’s kiss!

P.S. How did you create this, were these paint pens?

I received these packages after I got back from holiday break and was so excited to open them. I got to relive Christmas twice.

What’s this??? A fossil pack amongst the presents?!

WOTC slabs and 151 packs! They never get old.

Next up the pulls from the two 151 packs. Ekans and Nikoking are two of my favorites from the set - plus I only had this set in Japanese, not English, which was perfect.

Next we have a mix of cards featuring some of my favorites Pokemon. I’ve looked at this Kabutops from Legend maker so many times but never pulled the trigger, it’s a beauty! Also I don’t have a single prerelease card so Gyrados is my first one. Neo Scyther is one of my favorites I’d take 1,000 of them and the rest are great too.

Last but not least we have surprise fossil pack…with a PSA slab in it?!?! What could it be? It’s a Kabutops hyper sticker from 1998! I haven’t collected anything outside the TCG so this was a real treat for my favorite Pokemon. I love how they made these stickers like you’re in a video game looking at all the stats. The layout, design, colors and animation are so quintessential 1990’s it’s perfect. So happy to have this special piece I may have never found myself.

@eevee_alex thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You clearly put so much thought and effort into this gift and spent hours combing through different options and creating your insanely talented artwork. Vintage, modern, raw, sealed and slabbed, with my favorite artists and Pokemon, plus a touch of custom packaging and art. This secret santa gift had it all! Everything was perfect.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours. See you around the forum, and hope to see you at the next E4 art contest!

just received my SS gift and it was none other than @lyleberr I pick up this huge box (7 pounds) and provided instructions on how to open some of the craftier gifts!

  • When I think one of the first things I saw with Pokemon, it was the battle with Gengar and Nidorino in beginning of Pokemon Red and Blue. You see it every time you turn the game on. I told him that film is something I was very much involved in for a long time and after a (7) year hiatus, I am back creating again. I don’t think you realize just how much this meant to me receiving this box. When you turn it, it begins the animation slide to slide. I put it down and focused on the rest, but before I did, Lyleberr put my FORUM name on the box! I didn’t even catch that until my fiancé saw it so I spun the handle again to watch it. This was very creative and one of the best gifts I have ever received. I will add a video for you all to see.

  • Next I got some Destined Rivals, Phantasmal Flames, sleeves that are also a tie back to cinema which is the field I am in!

  • I did get some great slabs!

    • I am very picky with Gengar arts. I have seen some that aren’t entirely my favorite but he either knows me well or just got really lucky haha. He picked (2) of them that I have a lot of, but not graded! So I very much appreciate that!

  • I’ve never seen this Gengar binder before, and funny enough I just ran out of room and needed a new one so great job! Haha. I love it!

  • Lindor chocolates that will be gone before the end of the evening!

  • The infamous box that says open last that made an appearance. I opened it and it was none other than a praxinoscope! This is an early animation device, invented by Charles-Émile Reynaud in 1877, that creates the illusion of motion by reflecting images from a spinning cylinder’s inner mirrors, offering clearer animation than its predecessor, the zoetrope, by replacing slits with mirrors for a brighter, steadier picture and paving the way for projected motion pictures. With a drawing of Gastly! I cant wait to put this together. We are moving soon so I am looking forward putting this in my office! I can’t believe you created this. Absolutely crazy cool.

Seriously, thank you so much for the thoughtful gifts. You really took your time trying to understand who I am and what I like. I have been going to therapy for a while trying to remember the part of my life where I did make movies and take pictures. It’s been going well, and I have been slowly making steps back into it. This has inspired me to go further in my journey. I sincerely appreciate you more than you know! Thank you!!
