Dragonair "Rainbow" Error

I have in my possession a “rainbow error” Dragonair from the 1st edition of the base set. I remember seeing one a while ago on eBay but can now find no documentation on the card. For those who aren’t familiar, the error is a printing defect in the word “number” in Dragonair’s slam attack. I’ve linked some pictures below.

Thoughts on the value of the card and possibly getting it graded?

Never heard of this rainbow error before, I am also slightly colour blind so all I see is like a smudge - why is it called rainbow error?

its quite cool, but beyond that i dont see it fetching any more than a regular one

Great question, I’m wondering the same thing! That’s how it was described in that listing I saw on eBay. Wish I had saved a link to that listing because it no longer shows up under completed searches.

EDIT: Found a listing referencing the same error card! www.ebay.com.au/itm/1999-Pokemon-Game-Dragonair-1st-Edition-PSA-10-Gem-Mint-Rainbow-Error-VHTF-/252073801856?nma=true&si=K3g2h7yZ4yNA8x50%252BVrSuBUWUds%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

there is a small rainbow where the the ‘m’ in number is

How that ended listing managed a 10 on a card that is clearly missing part of the text I can’t fathom, but it’s an interesting error nonetheless *goes to check my dragonairs*

Huh that’s a good point, it’s not graded as an error card.

Interesting, going to have to check mine now. Cool error

That is really cool

It is a lame excuse to jack up the price. Honestly I think its worth less.

Agree it wouldnt make it more

Interested to know how much would you pay for a mint one?

Not that much more than a regular one. I don’t know much about the rarity of the error but don’t personally find it all that desirable.
