Displaying your cards.

I tried to find a thread (that wasn’t 2 years old) but couldn’t find one easily.

How are your cards currently displayed?

I am thinking of getting something like this, so it can lock and has LEDs coming down.

Thoughts?

edit: I see a lot of other threads recommending the DETOLF, but I just don’t think it will be big enough for me. And I don’t think it’s lockable, and I don’t entirely trust my cleaners not to steal stuff.

I’d never display my cards because it tells thieves what to steal if they enter the house.

I am a humbug who hates Christmas and showing collections, though.

I am working on displaying PSA sets on the ceiling joists. When building the new shop the sheetrock was left off the ceiling on the lower level to make is easy to add electrical. After thinking about is this is basically 60 - 14ft shelves already in place. It keeps the cards above little hands and most light. Quite cheap comparatively to building shelves but still more expensive that buying graded storage boxes.

If you purchase 2x2 & 1x4 furring strips from lowes you can assemble an 8 foot linear section for about $5. It takes maybe 60 seconds to pop in a few finish nails to hold it tight. That section will display 32 PSA graded cards, or for my place a total of over 3000 once everything goes up. Total cost being just over $500.

I get a little paranoid about break-ins as well. I feel more safe with the cards spread out over 800 linear feet more than 9 feet in the air, than with them all nicely compacted in a few boxes on shelves.

Great setup, might do this myself! And the casual sampleset showoff… damnn Nice  i’m the one who bought the machoke off you in a auction last weekend- can we do the next samplecardBuys via eFour instead of eBay? Cause damnn those prices went high in auction :stuck_out_tongue:

I may not sell more of the sample cards for a while, but if I do E4 would be better anyways. I have a full week of restriction from ebay for being in communication about selling on paypal!

Off topic: I almost got a full week suspension because a scammer asked me to call him so I could donate my cards to him for 6 months to display in a museum. I called eBay and told them how bull shit the suspension was, the rep removed the suspension, but also told me I should have messaged them back so eBay would know you’re not interested. I laughed at the rep and said I wanted nothing to do with the scammer, why would I message them back. The rep told me that’s the only way eBay knows you didn’t go off site.

Anyways, I learned the easy way to sell off site is to have the buyer send you the contact info, contact them tell them in you’re message how you’re going to send them a ebay message claiming you only sell on eBay. Then you can proceed with the off site transaction. I’d also recommend lowering the price of your item to $1 before ending it, that way if eBay decides to collect fees on it it’s only fees for a $1.

I dont have a pic yet but wouldnt mind having a display similar to the one you showed, especially with lights to get that beautiful holo affect. I invite people to try and steal my **** jk . I currently have mine displayed on two bookshelves, its somewhat corny but eventually I will get a better display.

I think I saw a display by @pokenastic, didnt look to bad.

Don’t you have like 60k+ 100% positive feedback rating? This is totally absurd and I’m sorry someone would close your store for a week over such a small issue. Truly awful.

Not only is it immoral imo. It’s not even logical. They’re losing out on a week of fees from you and you’re high volume for the sake of enforcing a rule.

Here is my set up for displaying some of my cards and items, i never leave any of my really valuable cards out on display the trophy card up the top i just put in the case for the photo, all them are in a safe, even though break ins are pretty rare in our area and we have security in our building better to be safe than sorry. to be honest a lot of my favorite card artworks are cheaper cards and i love having them on display, no point owning nice artworks if you don’t have them out to view and enjoy them  its like having a nice classic card but you never drive it!
