Did I make a mistake?

I just offered 70 USD for both the poncho charizard pikachu’s (PSA 10) on ebay and the guy accepted instantly. They were the cheapest on ebay (that I could find) for 85 USD (+nearly 30 USD for shipping/import charges). since he accepted so fast, I think I offered a little too high?

I typed this in a hurry as I have to go out, but can anyone tell me if I ripped myself off? and how badly? lol  I’m a rookie when it comes to this stuff…

If you like the cards, it shouldn’t matter how much you paid.

That being said, you can get a pair usually for around $30, so it depends if you wanted to risk it. Then there is grading fees etc.

You ripped yourself off if you are going in with a “resale” value in mind. If you are going in with a collecting value, you are fine.

The cheapest ungraded pair I could find was 58 CDN.

I’m not looking to make a profit, but I remember the magikarp and gyarados pikachus that I regret not buying for about $38 CDN because they’re about double that now. Even though I’d rather not buy these cards for that price, I feel like I’ll regret it in the future if I don’t. I assumed $70 ($97 after shipping and such) USD for the PSA 10 pair was a fair deal, but questioned that after he accepted my offer so quickly.

Could you have saved money offering less initially? Possibly. Also offering only $60 initially could have made the buyer counter you at $80 which you may have accepted. Or someone else could have bought it quicker. So many things could have happened. Pay the man and move on. Enjoy the cards when they come in.

haha, I did think of that. I switched between $65 and $70 a couple times before deciding to just go with 70, and before I even saw that I could send an offer, I was seriously considering buying for $85. These will also be my first ever PSA cards, so I was just wondering if I maybe overpaid a bit (I already paid for them).

I sold PSA 10 Pikakarp and Pikados for $90 at one point not that long ago (maybe a month and a half ago?) so take that for what it’s worth. The value fluctuates so much on these things sometimes that it really does just come down to what a few others have said - if you feel like you are happy making the purchase for yourself at a particular price, don’t fret over potentially lost money. It’s a hobby you should enjoy. If you can’t enjoy something knowing what you paid for it, don’t pay it.

It’s a fair price for the pair I would say to be honest, I’ve sold a pair of the Karp/dos for £72 before but it was a while back and I would say the charizard pair is more popular.

Edit: they also need to have come from two boxes where are the other set was from one so in theory these should definitely fetch a higher price than the other pair.

Honestly just having a collection goal ticked off without the hassle and time of buying and grading raw variants is probably worth the extra maybe $30 you may have spent.
