Side topic, what’s the history behind this card? Don’t people refer to this as a “mini trophy” card? If so, why?

It was given out for a contest for the Pokémon fan club. It has all the aspects of a trophy card although it’s not quite as rare. Gorgeous card though, can’t wait to put it on my shelf.
