D3F14NC3's Collection Down Under 🦘

Staring at a blank space for months and then finally sliding in the last missing NM card is chefs kiss :ok_hand:t4:

Next up we get into my favourite era, Neo. I love this artwork and in my opinion, Neo has the best card layout of any era. It’s nostalgic yet more up to date than earlier sets. The first binder contains my Neo Genesis and Neo Discovery cards. There are a handful of damaged cards in this lot which I need to replace.

Neo Genesis

About 40% complete. Unlimited is almost done but missing a lot of 1st Editions.

Neo Discovery

About 40% complete. Again missing a lot of 1st Editions.

Great to see an update to your collection, never getting tired of seeing these sets! Seems to be a nice plan to complete unlimited first so you’ll at least have all the artworks to admire and then fill the 1st eds at a phase what feels comfortable!

Great update. Love these cards in the binders, they really look great. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers!

My next binder contains my Neo Revelation and Neo Destiny cards. From this point on my collection starts to drop off. It was around this time I stopped actively buying Pokémon cards until about a decade later. I wish I had kept collecting for a few more years as it makes me sad to see this binder so empty. Neo Destiny was the last time I bought booster packs as a child and that’s where most of the 1st editions below came from.

Neo Revelation

About 25% complete. I have no 1st Editions sadly.

Neo Destiny

About 20% complete. Most of the 1st Editions I have are from booster packs which I opened when the set first released. I love that this set reintroduced “Dark Pokémon” and also added “Light Pokémon” for the first time.

I feel that Destiny is such a rewarding set to collect/complete because pretty much all of the art down to the commons is top tier and enjoyable to get in your hands. I have all the holos but I was just as stoked to track down a minty Dark Haunter as I was any of them. Then there are the Dark Omanyte/Dark Omastar duo from Komiya which look like some freaky horror movie creatures!

Only downside is the price of it and I only collect unlim for my binders. Light Dragonair in particular is expensive for a non-holo rare but understandable when you look at what it is and the artwork. Fortunately the Light Dragonite holo was one of those I already had from opening packs as a kid.

Destiny is my favourite Neo set. All of the artworks are beautiful. Dark Haunter is one of may favourites thus far.

Still a lovely amount of lovely cards! And a lot of fun purchases to be made when filling those neo destiny common/uncommon slots

Next binder contains my Legendary Collection cards. I never collected these as a child and in fact I have never actively purchased any of these. All of these cards came through purchasing bulk lots of Pokémon cards. Which is why I have cards like poor Growlithe who has pen on his head from a previous owner. I haven’t gone out of my way to complete this set as I have been focusing on earlier sets but in saying that, these reverse holos are some of my all-time favourite cards and they look stunning all together. Unfortunately, I currently only have a single reverse holo which is a travesty, so perhaps I will start filling this set in soon.

Legendary Collection

About 25% complete. I have most of the non-holo uncommon and common cards but am missing the reverse holos and all of the rares (except for Butterfree and Jynx).

Looking forward to seeing the amount of reverse holos grow, such a marvelous sight when there’s plenty of them!

My final binders contain my e-Series cards. Personally, this is my least favourite series from the WOTC era. I’m not a huge fan of the large borders these cards have as I feel they distract from the artwork. In saying that, I am a fan of Crystal Pokémon and am lucky enough to own one of those. Overall I own very few e-Series cards as I have generally focused on earlier sets but I do still want to complete these someday.

Expedition Base Set

About 10% complete. Nothing super special to call out but I do really like both the Tauros and Totodile artworks. It looks like Totodile is about to commit murder.

Aquapolis

Officially my least collected set. Only 2% complete. I would love to get the three Crystal cards someday.

Skyridge

Only about 5% complete. The Crystal Celebi is the only Crystal card that I own so far. It was in the bottom of a shoebox of bulk cards that I purchased back in the early 2010’s. Luckily it is in beautiful condition and is one of my prized cards.

Awesome collection, thanks for sharing it! Especially like the 2002 E3 page

If you don’t mind, may I ask how you got such clean pictures of all your binder pages? What combination or sleeves, binder and (I’m assuming) scanner did you use for all these photos?

Thank you so much!

I use Ultra Pro Premium Card Sleeves. The binders are the Ultra Pro 12-Pocket Zippered Pro Binders.

I terms of photos I just use my phone (Google Pixel 5). I have found natural light to be best. So I wait until there’s a bit of sunlight and turn off the lights in the room. Then I just find an angle that doesn’t show much reflection and prop the binder up with a pillow or something and take all the photos. I just crop them on my phone and upload. The only editing I’ve ever done is if a binder page has a few gaps, the reflections can be quite obvious. So if I’m showing my face or something, I blur that out.

Thanks for sharing. That’s great how good the quality is and how little glare even with sleeves and binder pages

I think the expedition weezing is one of my favorite arts from that set. Your collection is fantastic :pinched_fingers::pinched_fingers:

Naturally loved this update since e-series are a hit for me, hoping to see them finished too one day even if it isn’t a priority for you right now  i think most times people like e-series so they can cope with stuff like double amount of reverse rares in expedition but you might be struggling with the idea more
