Hello I’m ordering something from Germany, it’s being shipped to me in the US. It’s coming by DHL, would I get charged a custom fee? To my understanding if the receiver is in the US there is no custom charge for me? Thanks!
Rule of thumb for any situation:
Any custom services of any country can and is allowed to check any package coming into their country. It doesn’t matter what shipping service has been used. If she seller has marked the package correctly (value, weight, content) and this is not in violation with any of your countries custom rules you most likely get it without any additional fees. Rules differ from country to country. Although the European Union has somewhat agreed on what is “ok”, every country has it’s own additional rules.
I would check with the DHL website and the US Custom Services.
Also keep in mind, that since January 1st 2020 new UPU ruling doesn’t allow goods (which includes collectible cards) to be shipped with normal mail. This can also cause delays and additional fees.
[EDIT]Custom fees are always the “costs” for the custom service to check your package and give it the a-ok.Import fees are always the additional costs for importing goods (like VAT and other costs)
If customs touch it, you have to pay up. Here in the Netherlands that’s always about €20.
Thank you. Anyone else have any experience on this?
