If you had a choice between a PSA 6 Gold Star card with light play damage OR one that was mint but got dented during encapsulation that shows only from the back…which would you pick? Would you pay more for one or the other?
I would definitely go with the crimped card over the worn card. I might pay slightly more for the crimped. I guess I would prefer factory damage, over consumer damage.
I’d value them equally and I’d rather own the one with general wear over the mint but dented copy. I’ll take edgewear/scratching over a dent/crease any day.
I would choose the dented one for sure if someone else graded it. However, if it was from my own submission it would be hard to own as I would just think about what the card could have been.
You can’t push me into these false dichotomies, old man But since you put a gun to my head I will give you an answer
I would probably prefer the dented one. If I had to pay extra for one over the other, I’d opt for the cheaper option. If I was in the market for a PSA 6 I’d probably be more concerned about money than condition.
But I bet there is someone willing to pay more for one (probably the one with the dent) than the other.
The dented one for sure. I would also pay/ask more for it.
Light creasing or a dent isn’t a big deal for me. I’ve also had several buyers on a tight budget that were extremely happy buying NM/M looking cards for like half price. It’s not the kind of damage you notice in a binder. The usual PSA 6 will have wear all over you can spot from a distance.
I would take the dented one over the worn one any day of the week, as factory damage is just a thing that occures sometimes. Also it´s way nicer when you got an otherwise minty card for a fraction of the value of a 10/9(depending on the card) so I would also pay a premium for that.
I would take the dented card as long as the grade matches. I’m not too bothered about lower grades tbh especially if it’s just a small crease or indent as the card will still look pretty displayed (also if the damages are on the back side it doesn’t bother me as much as being on the front side). BUT of course if it was my card and it got damaged by PSA then I wouldn’t be happy at all. I’m just thinking about it as if I didn’t know the damage origin. And also if it was a 10 or 9 with a damage I wouldn’t like that as well. So as long as the grade matches the card I would be fine with it.
The PSA 6 is obviously a 6 if it has LP damage, so the quality/grade isn’t ever going to be questioned. The value is going to remain more ‘true’ over time.
