Covid's effect on sales volume and total value

Can’t agree with this. The savviest collectors and prognosticators are much more short winded that this young man was;)

Justin makes good argument. I too, am not for technical analysis for pokemon… I may need to walk away from the computer.

It’s not prognostication. It is data from an event that has already happened. This is working backwards, much in the same way you would investigate a death. Was it due to natural causes, or were there other considerations at play?

Being able to investigate allows you to narrow down likely conclusions. It’s called deductive reasoning.

I don’t expect someone of your age to have the attention span to listen to me. But do feel free to keep the passive aggression coming.

adhoc explanations are flawed, it’s bias. Don’t you know?

well you would know better than me, i’m ok with thinking well of rainbow based on what ive observed so far

also i don’t really know any collectors actually. the only person on efour i talk to outside of efour is chok.

who is the savviest??? i would like to track them (:

Yo buddy. I just want to make one more comment on this. People don’t understand the past nor know the future. Both directions are impossible to get a comprehensive view. Let along limiting the cause of the effect to certain areas of conclusions. The only thing that can be done is get a better understanding of the present.

when you realize data is useful in limited areas, things might have a broader view. And in most cases consisting human interactions, data is full of bullshit.

Rustin Cohle would strongly disagree with you.

@rainbow, your data might be objective but your arguments seem to be full of emotion by contrast. Just my two cents, I think that could be contributing to the resistance you’re getting.

I don’t know where to begin, here, honestly.

Do you not know why you, or any other person got out of bed yesterday, and likely ate breakfast? Can you not remember, or do you not understand these actions?

Clearly people can work backwards from the present to gain understanding and insight. Collective humanity has been doing it long before we began recording history. Why do we even record history? It’s to learn from it, and we do this by looking back at data.

I think it’s the other way around. People are becoming emotional about the subject material and only want to focus on the win (price rises), intsead of attempting to understand their nature.

People want to take cheap jabs. That’s ok. Baseless, but ok.

Thanks for crediting my lack of understanding on my age. I was afraid it was an inherent intelligence deficit.

I did think of an example that doesn’t even require a graph. How many sentences does smpratte contribute to these discussions? There’s very little profit in formulating then sharing information…for free. At least any pertinent information;)

To me, that’s understandable though. People have an emotional attachment to Pokemon cards, it’s just the nature of the hobby. So to me, it would make sense that those people would then want their emotionally valued cards to appreciate in monetary value as well. It can be difficult discussing loss with people only focused on gain or retention. Likewise, it would be difficult to discuss the facts of the hobby’s market with those mostly interested in the hobby for the emotion it gives them. From what I’ve seen though, it seems like everyone here has a different way of looking at the market - no doubt influenced by the many unique experiences we have all had individually as collectors.

Hey, at least I was direct.
Oh no, no profit. Why did I ever contribute for free? - I could have charged a fortune!

Seriously though, if that is the only valid reason for sharing information in your mind then it says a lot about you.I make a living for myself outside of Pokemon, so thankfully I don’t need to milk it for income.

Mentioning smpratte is like a child saying “my older brother could beat you in a fight” and then hiding behind them.
It’s a little odd, but ok.

Err King Pokemon / Gary has shared a lot of information with the community and is one of the main pioneers in this hobby lol…

I guess, but I’m not that smart lol.
Thanks for the kind words though my friend from the Lion City:)

I’m aware.

The way I see it, income is income, doesn’t matter how you make money as long as it is ethical and isn’t illegal…Gary and smpratte know the market better than most if not all on this forum, the evidence is in their collections and purchase/sales history. I think the words of those who have been the most actively involved in the hobby during the points in time your graph illustrates should be at the very least, considered.

The ironic part of this meltdown you’re having is that you started off by playing the victim when it came to people “taking jabs”, you having better things to do with your time, you wanting to stick to statistics and facts, and the plethora of other tangents you’ve reajusted your replies to cover.

Imagine being good with arts and crafts, building neat graphs, and discussing statistics, but lacking the aptitude for social competence, carrying on a conversation with others without sounding petty, or the general mental capacity to realize when it’s time to disengage from a differing of opinions while remaining on amicable grounds. Maybe you struggle with this often and knew you were better off just deleting your account and this is MY bad for ribbing that fragile ego of yours by accusing you of rage quitting. You have my apologies.

Anyone else want to throw a punch?

I’ll throw you some advice instead. Stick to your graphs, be friendly, and give up on portraying yourself as a martyr. People here are generally nice and respectful towards each other. All you’re doing now is begging for a smp “big brother” thread lock.
