If I were to purchase something from a seller who had more than one of a said item as part of the listing and I selected to purchase two or three of that item as part of one purchase, would this incur an import fee if it amounted to over $1k all up but below $1k individually? If so, would purchasing them individually through two or three transactions change this with certainty or will it be up to the seller and how they decide to ship/declare the item?

I’m in AUS so I’ve gone through this type of stuff many times. From my understanding, if the package is worth over $1k you will get stung with the importing fees. This is because the sellers have to declare the value of the whole package being sent. The only way around it is to declare value under $1000 or send them separately.
Also, if the seller is using the GSP they will truly try to bend you over. I bought 3 items around $600 and one for $1300. He combined the shipping and I paid in one transaction which meant I paid importing costs on the total amount (even though each item was sent in a separate package). One of many reasons why I absolutely HATE the GSP.
