I just asked them again as it was way back in October 2020 I asked any got this (also asked about cross grading VGA I’d anyone is interested)
Currently we don’t grade Japanese Game Cube games though we would like to in the nebulous future.
We grade VGA games all the time though, even though they require a bit more labor to get them opened carefully we still allow people to submit them as normal submissions & we do the opening ourselves.
I’ll post what response I get from them when asking again.
How did you even submit it? When making an online order, it forces you through the process with no open text fields really. If there was not Japan variant as an option, I’m curious how you even got it on your submission form? Or did you submit it under the English variant?
Is there an option to select region variants for any platform? The preview art seems to simply default to NTSC-US releases for every game on every platform, and then I don’t see any option to specify a different region (aside from maybe the notes field). Am I missing it?
They definitely grade PAL N64, GC etc. and since there is no option to specify that’s what you have during submission, I just select the correct game and trust they will denote the correct region on the label. I think the only issue they have with these older Japanese Nintendo games are the unusual box sizes. If they want to avoid receiving these Japanese games they can’t grade, they should probably add a region drop down for the submission process
I got a response to my question in relation top WATA grading Japanese GameCube games and POP report:
