Interesting to see the President of eBay mention Pokemon and the growth of sales within the trading card market. ![]()
I was recently at that Bleecker trading location in Lower Manhattan. Sealed prices are practically scalper-level but nonetheless a nice place for the collecting community. They regularly host trade nights and small card shows with local vendors. Picked up a 1st edition base Growlithe for my species collection and a base set Blastoise as well. Worth a stop if visiting NYC (they also have an uptown location).
Meg Whitman, the previous CEO was collecting pokemon 20 years ago! Crazy to see how much it’s grown!
Reading the title made me think CNBC was releasing their own cards ![]()
Sorry I see what you mean, it did read quite misleading whoopsy, I fixed it for you!
I love watching old videos it’s a total time capsule! I wonder what cards a billionaire was buying for their 11 year old.
All good lol
Ken Goldin on cnbc describing how collectibles are treated more as an asset class.
Interesting how he perceives 2020 as indiscriminate spending and now people are more focused and savvy. Perhaps he is drawing more from the sport market as pokemon has a lot of indiscriminate spending this year. It does feel like we are currently in somewhat of a pivot towards the actually rare cards.
I’m psyched for the new season of the show but they been really slow to relist my unsold stuff none the less Alex is a really good guy ran into him at the Orlando Collect a Con show even though I was really tired at the time.
