CGC Grading

How would you know you are looking at the back of the same card and not the same card but in a better condition and the same grade?

Ok I finally hear a logical reason for wanting the serial in the front. Till now it’s all just been “I want the serial in the front cause that’s how PSA does it, and that’s how I want it and I have to take pictures of the front and back now to sell cards.” or something like that lol.

I didn’t think of this myself and was in the camp of not having the serial in the front. My reason is I can take pictures for IG, or Twitter or a forum and not have to worry about MY card being used to scam people on ebay. Just a generic picture of a CGC 10 Squirtle.
However I do understand your train of thought here and I agree with you. I may change my stance on this.

The serial brings up high res scans of front and back of the card. I’m still in shock that people here are saying they buy psa cards without looking at the backs.

The serial brings you to a database with high res scans of the front and back

Are you sure? cgc site says it costs extra for hi res scans. So unless you paid that for each card that wouldn’t be available information right?

Every card is scanned, front and back, and put on their website. You can (or eventually will be able to) view the front and back.

High res scans are something entirely different and they cost extra, just like all of their other collectible services.

What is the BGS Black Label equivalent called for CGC and why isn’t there a Shiny Charizard GX in it’s holder yet??

A screengrab from one of there videos shows a perfect 10 has the same label design as the rest of the grades. Only difference i can see from a 10 with a 9.5 subgrade is it will say “Pristine” instead of “Perfect” above the grade number
I’m sure there will be a shiny zard in one soon enough  but tbh a lot of people grading the shiny zards just care about flipping them and will most probably go to PSA until CGC is more established.

However i have pre-ordered some of the Hidden Fates reprint so if pull one i’ll send it to CGC

Well, actually I raised it many posts ago (I’ve linked the specific para below). I’m sure everyone is actually in the same boat. I’m quite positive no one wants serial numbers because another company does it. Serials are functional, not aesthetic.

Correct. There is a front and back database image for every graded card. If you pay $5 for “imaging” you will get ultra high res images in addition. I assume database images will have watermark.

I reached out to Ludkins UK to ask if they’d be supporting CCG grading but unfortunately they aren’t going to be at the moment:

Bit of a shame as I was hoping I could send off some of my non-English/Japanese Pichus.

I believe this is actually going to change pretty soon.

I also asked CGC’s UK office if they’ll be grading trading cards soon (you can only choose comic books and magazines in the submitting form by now). This was their response:

I’ll definitely go with them as soon as they accept submissions in UK or elsewhere in the EU.
So far I agree with @ozenigma in regards to the serial number. I can understand that it’s not as big of an issue with comic books. But on the other hand it’s far better to have the serial number only on the back than only on the front.
@funmonkey54 This sounds promising. Turnaround times of PSA were a big no-go for me since I’d have to add the time it takes for ludkins to ship.

I stand corrected. :sunglasses:

So for a no symbol jungle holo I would have to pay an extra $5 to get the card graded? What exactly do they consider an error?

Have there been any Base 2000 submissions yet? ~

We are waiting on you Bart

No symbol is not an error. Can be selected standard from the drop downs under “variant 2”

Am I doing something wrong then? Because my certification doesn’t bring up anything: www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/3692933002/

@cinnaminhbun, it does for me, I can see an error entei gx
