CGC Changed Their Grading Scale & Label

I agree it is a net positive and the right long term move, but to claim that you dont understand why people are upset is a bit silly.

They made the strategic decision to risk pissing off the relatively small number of 10 owners knowing that the much larger number of 9.5 owners would be thrilled with the upgrade to their cards.

This is unwinnable but I will take part.

What is considered a win state? It’s just an opinion survey. Already there’s nuance emerging, some choices are looking positive and some are negative.

when will the results be shared?

Probably around 100 votes

CGC doesn’t even believe in themselves! Which they have proved multiple times over the short amount of time they have been grading cards! How is their customers supposed to believe in them?

The biggest slap in the face are the customers who paid for sub-grades and want to relabel will now “lose” the sub-grades. They should either credit the customer for future grading, or don’t charge the reholder fee for cards with sub-grades.

There’s hate for hates sake. I see it all the time. I’m not even a cgc diehard so hearing it doesn’t faze me. I find it interesting.

I’m completely okay with this change, and I have no bias whatsoever.

Over 50 percent favourable outcome. Impossible. I think around 15 percent tends to be the going rate here every time.

What’s a favourable outcome on an opinion?

I put up a thread to find bad cgcs. I’m about as unbiased a person you could meet. I live on probability.

I was curious on this too. In addition, how is anyone going to discern the difference between Gem Mint 10 and Pristine 10 (especially with sub-grades being gone)? I know as a collector I’m happy just seeing a 10 on the label and I feel like the Pristine 10 is almost redundant at this point. It also really sucks for anyone who previously paid a relatively large premium for a CGC 10 since it was usually at a premium compared to 9.5 Gem Mint.

Last but not least, CGC 10 Perfect is also being essentially “downgraded” to the new Pristine 10 which was sort of like a Black Label under the old system and in some cases probably had a big premium over both Pristine 10 and 9.5 Gem Mint.

To me the winners here are all the 9.5 collectors who can now upgrade to a 10 label, lol.

I’m going to ask 15 republicans and 85 democrats a series of questions.
I know you’ve put please leave your biases out you can but try.

Well they are definitely buying up the 9.5s. Way more than double sold today already.

The whole thing feels incomprehensible. Its so obvious the motive is just money.

What’s funny is when the 9.5 is worth more than the new 10 :joy:
