Cards that you Sold that Re-appeared Later

About 2 years ago I picked up a $14,000 collection in Arizona while I was deployed from a local card shop. The cards inside this collection in value today would cost me close to $40K in today’s market. Cards included Crystal Charizard, 1st ed dark Charizard, Shining Charizard, Plasma Storm Charizard, and the best card out of all of them: Gold Star Rayquaza with a sick mouth swirl shown here. It was in fantastic condition and was very excited to see what it would grade.

This is the spreadsheet of the top 20ish cards from the collection broken down:

I got all the cards back and did a reveal video here:

The Rayquaza ended up coming back a PSA 8

I was decently stoked and ended up selling this card to a fellow E4 member.

The crystal Charizard got a PSA 9 which I was excited about and sold to a fellow collector on E4 as well.

I still think to myself, how many collections have my cards been exchanged or added to. And how many of my cards I purchased are now “Grails” in other people’s collections? Would be really neat to see this figure if it weren’t for being totally impossible to calculate.

Well years later, I was watching a recent Bulbastore video showing off his “$1,000,000 Pokemon collection” video and what do you know, the Rayquaza PSA 8 ended up in his collection:

It is pretty neat to see the traveling of cards to different places especially if you have lore to the card and know exactly where it came from.

Now the question to all of you, any of the cards you sold way back when pop up later in life?

I sold a card after grading to PSA and saw it pop up on the gamestop PSA mystery pack last week.

I hate every single part of that sentence.

That is WILD and unhinged. But who were we fooling to think that cards purchased by GameStop weren’t going directly into a gambling tool they created for more lucrative profits.

I sold a collection of French cards on eBay to a shop in France back in 2020. (Unfortunately sold before everything jumped up in price) In 2025, I actually traveled to France and attended a convention where I saw a vendor sign that looked familiar. I looked at their vintage cards and found one of the cards that I sold them! I thought it was really cool and tried to explain to one of the workers that I sold it to them awhile ago but they didn’t really understand haha.
