If you could build the “perfect” pack what would it be? For the purposes of the discussion, assume you can pick any standard set card (meaning it had to come from standard size packs, as opposed to half decks, etc.) for each slot in the pack. E.g. To make your pack you choose your favorite card that fits that slot.
I’ll use the newest SV pack format (4 commons, 3 uncommons, and 3 foils). I tried to add in a trainer and an item card to make it more well-rounded, but do whatever is most fun!
Well this was indeed tough to make and it would probably be a different list tomorrow. Not much variety in my pack but i thought about the cards i would get most joy of opening and there weren’t much variety so i went with that. The holo rare was a debate between muk and aerodactyl alt art but after giving it some time i got a feeling that muk would be the one to make me jump in the air when opening it so went again with less variety but more joy. I may have cheated a bit including a japanese master ball reverse holo but who’s going to stop me
Late to this party… haha. oh well.
Well, there were few restrictions, and since it would undoubtedly be a combination of TCG eras, I decided I would go with the WotC formula: 11 cards. but couldn’t bring myself to just choose my favorite rares. Hopefully, there;s something here that might inspire someone to look at other parts/artists/sets of the hobby. These are all cards from boosters.
Wouldn’t it be sick if each set or generation had illustrated energies on-theme for the era? Magic does it for each set. Each SET! And with alt arts… We can dream.
I do think it would be a really neat concept to get “artist packs” kind of similar to the god packs in Japan, but with all art from one artist! Like with the 151 evolution lines, there would be so much story telling that could be done!
I created a Kusajima binder a little while ago, and it’s strange to look at. He has 2 distinct styles but they are VERY consistent. Not sure which I like better, the Onix style, or the ninetales style that you chose. anyway. great cards!
