woaaah
What an awesome milestone @brendantheclayboy, so happy for you. I especially loved your interpretative passage. You’re a great writer!!! Porygon really is such awesome character design. Seems like an even more relevant concept considering the massive progression of the web over the years.
Thank you @imakunizauntie! I know what you mean–he is a special Pokemon design indeed, and one that ages well IMO.
Hehe, I definitely thoroughly enjoy you catching any collection updates, since I know you share in styles/art interest! I know the 'ole auntie of Imakuni approves of this one.
I have a vision of what you collection thread would look like (something like favorite cards/artist pairings with drawings
), so if you ever get around to / feel up to doing one, I’d be certainly eager to see it and follow it. But I hope that doesn’t come off as pressure–you do you! Just happy you enjoy my stuff!
@brendantheclayboy, thank you so much! I am honored that you like my collection so much. There are many ways to have a cool collection and I am very impressed by yours. I recently took some pictures of my cards to update my thread on E4, but I was very dissatisfied with how they came out. I need to find the time to retake them. One day, I hope to get a proper camera, light box and card stands. No Eevee yet, but not too much longer I imagine.
Excited to see where your collection goes from here.
Oh yes, definitely @deltazero! Hey, I too need to update some pics a bit back there on the binder pages, so I hear that. Your thread is (and has been) bookmarked, so I’ll be seeing that when you get around to it ![]()
And that’s great to hear, I will be rooting for you on getting the Eevee!
Happy to see you finally get that Porygon! And the green translucent N64 controller and lava lamp hits right in the nostalgia. Amazing
It’s crazy you say that because I just got an ultra pro binder, and have something bizarre cooking up that I can’t wait to post ehehehehehehehehe. ![]()
Incredible! Yay ![]()
Wow…not only a beautifully and eloquently written update, but an absolutely stunning card and presentation. Dammit, @brendantheclayboy…now I want a Fan club Porygon!!! Stop making me want things! This thread is honestly the first time I’ve ever seen this specific Porygon, and yeah, it’s freaking incredible. Congrats, man! Very happy for you!!
Heh, isn’t E4 the best and worst place ever, @kromaticlanturn? ![]()
Thanks man! Much appreciated!
I haven’t said this yet, but I dig your binder collection! So many good cards (I see you, Blaine’s Charizard)! Also, congrats on the PSA 9 Unlimited Base Set Zard! Classic. ![]()
Thanks so much @deltazero!
Big update here. So this is the beginning of my Japanese Old Back Binder reveal! I am still working on holes in certain areas, and since I only like to post here when I complete a goal, the binder will be shown in segments–though I didn’t want to open it onto my thread until I had my most important goals done as well, despite having been excited at seeing it grow these past 2 years. Here is the first page!
Who doesn’t love GB Dragonite? ![]()
And now the main events. I have finally completed the Neo Intro Pack artwork exclusive collection! The Himeno cards here are absolute killers. This is one of those sets that is so cool to have been introduced to as an adult, having had no idea as a kid. What an amazing release, despite the holos being reissues rather than exclusives themselves. And I pair this group of exclusives with the wonderful Bulba and Squirtle VHS cards. The all look so good together! I want to thank @avalanche1313 again for helping me obtaining the last Intro card. As many know, these are some hard mothers to find in NM or better condition, so this took well over a year!
Favorites here have to be Raichu, Meowth, and Koffing from VHS, and… well, frankly, at least half of the Neo Intro pack are equally beloved in my eyes, so I couldn’t say. I adore the Sugi Hoothoot, the Abra is godly, and, like I said, this was Himeno just going overkill in the era.
And now, the spectacular, the legendary, the famous Vending set! Mon’s only, trainers will wait 'til later! Arguably the best set of Pokemon ever made, with one hell of a release, the best art ever, an eternal joy to look over at any time in one’s life. This set I had actually partially completed a long time ago, but around the time I joined E4, when I had had about half of it complete, I decided to start over. When I was younger, when re-entering the hobby post high school, I didn’t care as much about condition. But I confess, I care a lot more about it now. I still keep played cards, but for my main binders, I shifted condition requirement. So basically, with the help of many friends, some ebay shopping, and in particular, @cardstockpile (thanks Kyle!), I was able to upgrade the ones I had whilst simultaneously finishing the set, which I accomplished earlier this year. Might’ve been a lot sooner if I weren’t chasing doubles ![]()
I sort vending by artist, because it is such a joy to see the many artworks together in cohesion by their revered makers! Vending features some of the best art of all time, every artist has some of their biggest bangers in this set. And why not include special Coro and promos that carry that beautiful set symbol in the set for kicks!?
Mr. Mime is obviously phenomenal. Komiya, Kizuki, and Tanaka went on a RAMPAGE. Komiya blew the world away here. Kusube gave us some of the most spectacular work ever. Thank the Poke gods for Nishida’s Slowbro (and how 'bout that Charmander??). And Himeno and Arita, well, business as usual. The business of top tier godly artwork that is. Holy hell is vending a master set!
I might one day pick up Habu’s Shellder, but up until recently, I never liked it much. Damn Pokemon cards always appreciate more with time, even ones you thought you hated. I feel like trainer cards, which I love dearly, deserve their own update a little down the road. Soon!
Also, I have updated all my previously posted binder pages, which is something I have been meaning to do this whole year, so they look spectacular now, for those who might take a stroll through any time in the future.
@brendantheclayboy very cool bud! I like the sorting by artist idea. Keep up the good work!
Absolute eye candy. Again big congrats on completing the elusive Intro Pack Neo. Also love your idea of ordering Vending by artist. Haven’t seen it like that before. There isn’t any wrong way to order the Vending set, but yours is certainly one of the most right ways ![]()
Wouldn’t have been able to do all my upgrades without you @cardstockpile. You keep up the good work my dude!
And thanks again, @muk! It was actually the bindering of vending that made me want to consider artist order as an important consideration doing sets or eras. It was a combo of wanting to see the illustrator cards together, and of course, Komiya, Tanaka, and Kizuki. Those artists just have such a consistency that it beats even energy color coordination, which is always beautiful candy. Artist order was a first for this set, but won’t be the last ![]()
@brendantheclayboy, absolutely in love with this post. Also wicked cool idea to organize them by artist! Never seen anyone do that before for sets with mixed artists - there is a different level of appreciation seeing that done. Kizuki had some of their best arts during that era.

Amazing as always, man!
Binder arrangement game STRONG AF
Awesome stuff!
