@brendantheclayboy,nice collection man! Planning on adding the two special carddass cards?
Thanks @cardstockpile! And yeah you know it!
@brendantheclayboy Dude that Machamp line is badass! I’ve never checked out cardass cards before. Out of curiosity were they expensive? Definitely some sick cards!
So many cards to collect. I have to focus on my collection goals and prioritize each one before moving onto the next goal. Can’t wait to see your next update my friend!
Thanks @mcorey777! Dude I know right? All them kickin’ and seismic tossin’! The sickest my friend. They really aren’t expensive at all. You can easily get the whole set for under/around a grand. For 151 cards (not including 000 and checklist) that ain’t bad at all.
And really, if it weren’t for that damn Charizard, stuff would be crazy cheap. The majority are $5/10 cards. Holos are a little harder on the wallet, but only Charizard really costs a few hundred for a good copy. If you want clean sets, it’s roughly a grand right now, maybe a bit more. An amazing price considering the value of most vintage stuff right now.
I’m after those 2 elusive starter cards now though. Now those are expensive. Seems it’ll be roughly 1k for those raw alone. They are iconic and genuinely rare (or at least it seems), so it makes sense.
I hear ya man! Too many out there. I have to cherish my list and not try to outdo myself on trying to check them off.
I will have a good couple updates comin’ a right up soon amigo! And I’ll keep an eye out on yours!
Here we have what started it all for me. My first and biggest love in Pokemon. Something I still use heavily to this day, for competitive fun with a friend. Something that brought me to the TCG and Pokemon collecting in general. Something that I owe a great deal of childhood memory and reverence to in shaping who I am as a person in my formative years. I love these games.
I’ve had the original Gen 1 games since childhood. I have had to replace the batteries on all these pups a couple times now. Also shown is my first ever Gameboy, the GB Pocket. Then, a nice GB color, and now I’ve gone all modern on myself and gotten an Advance SP for current playing. High tech, I know. Recently I got the Japanese games, the true OG’s, with full inserts. I have provided said inserts for your pleasure. The map of Kanto is particularly exquisite. And, what, many of you may perhaps ask, is that cartridge with the shiny Swinub? Why, it is Pokemon Crystal Clear. This is a Rom Hack of the greatest magnitude that is fully compatible with G/S/C and brings me great joy. The ultimate post game material that I highly recommend. All those things you’ve yearned for missing in G/S/C and more are brought to you in full swing, including Gym Re-battles, level 70 and up E4, all 251 Pokemon available, and more.
@pokecollectoramy I mentioned that I would tag you, hope this pleases you
Also, @kromaticlanturn since I know you love these (a la your collection thread), I include you, in the hopes this brings you viewing pleasure.
@brendontheclayboy
Those Gameboy guides were the best. I miss the days before Google. Simpler times.
@nickofturl, hell yes. I love the aesthetics of prima’s strat guides and all, and use them lovingly as a kid. But once I found out about these, well, forget about it!
Boy, your comment about times before Google… it hit me in my soul. I’m sad now…
HOLY CRAP!!! Wow this is seriously awesome man! I wish I would have kept my Pokemon guides…so beautiful… I was literally just saying to one of my friends yesterday that one of my goals is getting a boxed set of the Kanto and Johto games in Japanese!!! Yeah your pics make me want to buy them this instant haha. Love the Crystal Clear rom hack too, and PLEASE frame that Kanto map!! It’s worthy!
The gameboy set is impressive. Also, the gameboy SP was the best nintendo console.
Great presentation, love the colored shorts!
@brendantheclayboy, Wow! that town map would look awesome in a frame!
Oh, man — that is an excellent assortment! Can’t get enough of that stuff.
Any interest in eventually acquiring the Japanese versions for Gen 2? I’m undecided on that next step myself. Your post did inspire me to put my eBay Bucks towards a Japanese Gen 1 guide, though! I’m now thinking that looking into Crystal Clear might also be in order…
I’ve actually been looking for that G/S/C perfect guide for a little while now! My little brother and I had the poster it came with hung up on our closet door for years. I mainly want it for the poster and the Pokedex in the back with all of it’s nostalgiac Ken Sugimori art.
@kromaticlanturn , perhaps I will frame it some day soon. You’re right! (EDIT: yes please go for crystal clear and lemme know if you do!)
Thanks @pulpyfan ! I wanted to spice it up.
Your posts inspire me to get really good updated pics on my binder pages.
@taizokai , I have absolute interest in Gen 2 Japanese games and their boxes. That is certainly on the list! Please do let me know if you get Crystal Clear! It is awesome! And of course, you need a Gen 1 or 2 guide. Beautiful stuff.
And @ascendedbidoof , speaking of the guides, not only are they completely comprehensive, the pokedex in the back is what I love most. A few months ago someone asked in a thread about favorite Ken Sugimori stock artwork not found in the TCG. So many of those images in the back are indeed not found! Like these!
The artwork from the Tyranitar evolution line is so iconic to me. When these came out (I think I was like 6 or 7) I was really into Godzilla so I of course really liked Tyranitar. I remember being upset that I could never get it in the game because you get Larvitar at Mt. Silver around Lv 20 and I didn’t have the patience to grind at the Elite 4 when I was basically done with the game at that point. I really want to buy this strategy guide now.
This might be of interest
Thanks for keeping me in mind for stuff @villagepillage, but I only old gameboy stuff, and that was a 2DS listing.
I appreciate it a lot though!
And here is episode 2 in nostalgia trippin’. While I was at it on this page, figured I’d show off some more childhood beauts. They are so worn that piling this stack up was quite the task. Quite the task. Despite the show having its… problems… I still treasure it because of its phenomenal art style. If the writing had been up to par, well, it would be universally acclaimed I would think. Anyway, enjoy
