@smpratte I actually received a rude message out of the blue from this same buyer a few weeks ago was reading your post and the username/M.O. rang a bell
I believe in my case his message was a response to a price increase on one of my Gold Stars, a card I’ve listed high for reasons outside of making a sale. Some people are just unbelievable
I truly believe , and im sure many will support, we should start a thread of eBayers that deserve to be blocked so we all avoid the hassle of dealing with people like this individual.
I’ve considered that option. I get bad buyers weekly at this point, but there is so much negativity in the hobby already I don’t want to add more. Typically I only share the worst of the worst.
There is an actual option to block banned buyers from contacting you. I keep mine on at all times.
No good can come from interacting with people such as this guy so, if you’re going to read and not reply, you might as well not even allow him to message you and save yourself some time reading through abuse.
On my end, if I go to Account - Site Preferences - Buyer Requirements there is a box I can tick to prevent buyers from contacting me. It works for existing customers as well, as I had people use 3rd party accounts to contact me after being unable to do so from their blocked accounts.
@cullers , not sure why that is, but maybe if they reply to one of my previous messages they will still be able to get through. I’ve never experienced it myself though.
@kaldoverde, Ah yeah I already had that selected. The problem is ebay allows anyone to message you if they are asking about an item. I’ve asked customer service numerous times if there is a way to actually block people, and they never have a solution.
Yeah, I wish that worked. I have a guy I bought something from and blocked because he has been begging for positive feedback daily since before the item even arrived. Messages still definitely coming through.
