BGS Beckett Out of Business? What is going on with my submission!?

The idea is that hitting them with all this stuff you’re talking about is unlikely to yield any results. You may be technically correct but your options are probably limited from a practical standpoint. Best to accept that and move forward as such.

Also, the BBB is a farce.

Haha you are so right about BBB. Most companies ignore it, they literally do not respond and don’t care about their F rating, but some do take it seriously and respond & resolve. Basically if they have a A rating with the BBB they will take a BBB complaint seriously. Since Beckett has an F, I give it a 5% chance they will respond to the BBB complaint LOL. An A rated company is the Guitar Center. They have an A+. So if you are getting nowhere and you file a BBB complaint against Guitar Center, THEY WILL RESPOND AND RESOLVE WITH YOU!

Beckett Media LLC | BBB Complaints | Better Business Bureau

Remember at the end of the day that you are not the only customer they are serving. I am in no means defending them, but who knows how the company is running logistically behind the scenes. Good luck all the same.

Wanted to add on to my last comment since more context has came up. The easy option is just waiting and would be my advice for most people since their legal threats would be toothless.

But if you’re willing to go all the way then it’s an option. It’s infinitely more time and money but if you want to be proactive it sounds like the only path you have left.

Question: are these Pokemon cards that you submitted?

Oh man I hate that SGC holder in this case lol I would def send it to PSA with auto authentication or PMG and not even get the auto authenticated unless it’s for resale in the near future

Holy smokes this just turned from “oh someone got bamboozled” to “oh dear, this isn’t nothing” a little quickly there. So tl;dr is its been twice the time to get your stuff back. And they responded to one non-controversial inquiry in 5 days, then have ignored the more pressing inquiry for a month.

Since the beckett lawsuit thread got instantly derailed into an argument over the perceived value of putting cards into plastic and whose plastic is better and why, I haven’t felt like I understood the story much.

But I can say, that whatever is happening bts with someone, it isn’t your problem. Its their problem. And if you can’t find out whats going on, and you are coming up on 4 months without your items back and 1 month with no communication, what else can you do but to send some of legal notice to them. I imagine a lawyer’s letter would be more than enough to get them to probably even expedite your order to the front of the line and get you out of their hair.

But I say it a lot, I’m rather unknowledgeable about these things. I’d say you have given them more than enough time to give you some sort of communication, let alone actually do the job you are paying them for.

How much value are we talking for the 38 cards? Since you said you won a dispute with paypal for $450,000 I’m kind of worried that maybe its likewise a big fat number and that maybe someone really did just say “F this stupid $15/hour job, this stack of 38 cards is worth more than a year of wages!” and just yoinked it. That would be worst case scenario. And if like everyone said, the employees are just doing whatever without any supervision, it seems like it would be pretty easy to do.

afaik, they all charge right before they are ready to ship

that is par for the course with beckett, if you are going to use them you should know they have non-existant cs. they even disabled their public phone a while ago.

This is an old wives tale.

Their CS does exist - I’ve never had an issue - nor the group of 20+ people that I know who sub in our eu group.

Also their social media guys are amazing at following up and have raised tickets for things with me just by dm on IG.

Once a ticket is opened though they won’t reply until it’s updated.

You guys might be the biggest submitters they have for the entire EU. You keep denying everybody else’s experience though. I have personally not had a good experience with their CS since 2021 (back then it was just fine too). If they ever send a helpful response it is never timely. We are glad for you that you have a dedicated rep that loves you but it’s not the experience that literally anybody else here has had, just accept it

Even when I used to submit a lot to BGS, I always said their customer service was worse than non-existent.

I could see them putting a little effort if they have a specific group of submitters they can count on regular subs I guess. But overall I’ve been extremely disappointed with cs at bgs

Efour is extremely pro PSA and is a TINY Subset of the hobby.

Just fyi, we all submit individually. Only 20% of us have a direct line to reps.

Yes, BGS can be slow if you send their main cs email a request - but it’s not worse than any other company in my experience.

BGS bashing is getting tiresome now. Get another job!

well its kinda hard not to like how is this even possible  these dudes were supposedly on equal footing with psa at one point

i dont even care about their service level problems of which there are many since i hardly use them but their prices are utter garbage for anything below a 10  (seriously is a bgs 9.5 even worth over a psa 9 now???)

Those numbers aren’t great…

I’m really curious to know ACE grading’s numbers now. Since they appear to get disproportional airtime too.

BGS 9.5 is still worth much more than a PSA 9.

The company grading less doesn’t affect that at all.

BGS 9.5 basics for vintage still get 2x or 3x PSA 9 prices (depending on the card).

PSA 9 shadowless zards go for 4k ish, BGS 9.5 are in the 8k region on auction.

No pokemon cards.
They were 2005 Comic Image Donald Trump Apprentice auto cards and 2016 Decision money cards.

Love that haha. Summed up perfectly.

Glad you agree I have been reasonable. Didn’t even think about asking for an update until we got to December… And yep, they answered my shipment question in 5 days about the BAS shipping, and I have tried following up a bunch of times since regarding the BGS submission and just radio silence.

The 38 cards is probably around $40,000
I under declared for $7,000 on the submission / insurance.
13 of the cards are $2,000 or so each, maybe more or less depending on the grade, but $2,000 raw. I declared them for $500 each
A bunch are just $500 cards, declared for $100 each
A couple are 1/1 Superfractors that are probably $500 to $1000 each
A bunch are just $100 cards I declared for $10 each

So more than half of them are really rare and unique and if they were to surface online, I would know, especially the 1/1 superfractors

Let’s keep this thread on-track. If you want to discuss BGS’ overall status as a grading company and card values, you can do so in our dedicated thread.

I don’t know how much more advice we can give, so if this thread doesn’t stay on track with this user’s BGS issues/customer service problems I’ll just close it down.
