Best place to sell cards

Just to warn you, it’s very very unlikely that selling an entire binder all at once would end at close to the combined market value of every card in the binder.

The reason people who buy collections only offer 60-70% is because they’ll need to take the time to list everything individually to make any money. By selling the binder all at once, you’re trading the time savings for less money.

More likely than not, anyone bidding on the binder will do so with the intention of selling the cards individually, and will bid accordingly. They’ll also most likely price in the chance of cards being in worse condition than the pictures show, since you’re not gonna have close up front and back pictures of every single card in the binder. eBay fees and shipping alone will already put you at receiving around 85% of what it sells for, and it will very likely go for a decent amount less than the combined market value of each individual card.

Unfortunately there’s usually no way around it - you either have to put in the time to list everything individually and wait for it to sell, or sell it all at once to save time and effort and take significantly less than market value.

If you do decide to sell it as a binder (see concerns from @mrpandachum and @jonbo):

Take all of the cards that are worth >$10 out of the binder, line them up in a matrix, and take a picture of the front and of the back. That’s just two pictures out of the 12 that you get on eBay, but it will improve the confidence of your bidders.

Good luck!

Just a side note, but I wish people would make it cheaper for their wedding party to attend. I’ve been in a lot of weddings and it gets kind of crazy especially if you are traveling out of state, the amount of money people expect you to spend to support them at their wedding. I mean don’t get me wrong you want to support your friends but sometimes what people ask is a lot and puts an unnecessary burden on others just so they can have their wedding day exactly as they want.

Normally, if its an out of state wedding, i probably wouldnt go (well every wedding is out of state because i moved from where i was living for over 25 years). I only try to attend if its a really close friend of mine, and even then, i cant make it. A lot of my childhood friends are friends whos basically are more family than my own actual family. I just wanted to go since its been years since ive seen a lot of my friends.

It is expensive, not just for attendees, but for the bride&groom too. he actually sold his collection since he thought it would be a good reason to finally let his collection go and spend it on something thats going to be one of the most important moments in his life, but he definitely didnt want to sell. Expenses wouldnt be as bad, but i just made it a more expensive than necessary because i spent a lot of money buying some of his favorite cards and creating a little collection for him as a wedding gift so he can enjoy collecting still post-marriage. I also included some cards from my own collection, so that helped, but not too much since we have different tastes in pokemon.

also, i did it because ill be sad since hes one of my few close friends that collects and i can talk cards with, so i dont want him to leave me :sob:

I hear ya that makes sense.

Man I can relate to the difficulty of finding friends in this hobby. I don’t have any in person friends in this hobby. It sucks. I’m at least grateful for online forums to discuss with others.
