Jan 9th, 1999 was a date that has huge historical significance in the Pokemon community. English base set was released! However, if we look back exactly ten years before that date, another (although less significant) historical Pokemon event occurs: silversnorlax was born! That’s right, as of a few days ago I officially hit the big 3-0!
The night before my birthday, my lovely girlfriend decided to bake a cake for my birthday. You can view it here Chocolate with cream cheese icing for anyone wondering.
After I had a birthday slice, my girlfriend and I unanimously decided that we don’t need more cake in our lives, so I would bring it to work with me the day of my birthday.
As it stands, I’m known as the “Pokemon guy” in the office I work at. A title I hold with a lot of pride. As such nobody was surprised to see me bring in a Pokemon themed cake (everyone enjoyed it). However I was pretty floored to reach my cube that morning to find a few things waiting for me:
ThisThatAnd the other
The Pikachu will be joining the other plush that I have at my cube (a substitute plush that I leave on my chair when I leave my cube, and nobody understand why) and the card from my department will stand proudly on display.
No matter how old I get, Pokemon remains fun in some way shape or form. And I’m happy that I can bring that joy to my department, and they in turn can share it with me. Age is just a number, never get old!
