Good point about putting your name next to the card/grade, as I have bought Beckett and was astounded by the condition of what i received as “GEM MINT” and it made me not want to buy from that seller again even though they sold a 3rd party graded card.
I don’t really understand the “raw review.” Is it just for people who want a grade, but still want to be able to access the raw card easily if they want?
I honestly have no clue. But it does remind me of a point I always forget to mention, Beckett has multiple grading services. They have “Raw Review”, “BGS” and “BCCG”. The latter “BCCG” is terrible. It is used primarily by large retail stores (Target, Walmart, Toys"R"Us) so they advertise they are selling a “graded” card. What is the gripe I always have with Beckett, oh yeah, Beckett is way too concerned about after market value.
I think the raw review may be what some people use before selling stuff. Kind of like a it’s not graded but if it was it would get this. I know PSA do some sort of version of this at auctions. I never understood it. Why would you pay a company to gie their opinion on your card (and essentially grade it) whithout actually having it graded? Perhaps access to the card still raw may be a factor @rayquazatcg
I think another point for the raw review is that you can send in the card to get it encased. If you went to a card show that had graders there you can pay a slightly smaller fee to get the card graded. If you happy with the grade and wanted it to be put in a case you could send it in.
I watched the video and agree the grades seem off from what were all used to however… BGS is not PSA. They may have differences between what they consider those grades. I’ve seen a few PSA 9s which confused me. If the card didnt have an obvious crease (PSA misses creases more often then people admit) then I can see why they gave the card that.
I have yet to have PSA miss a crease. If anything, they always notice those subtle ones, I am looking at you with bloodshot eyes Masaki cards!! 8D
The disheartening aspect for me is this was one order, and both cards were terrible. Even further, I have had less pokemon cards from Beckett, and 10 fold the mistakes. I understand guys might have a card here or there mis-graded, but these are so bad I didn’t want to touch them. I didn’t even want to remove them as I don’t know what to advertise a card with pin holes as, pinned? Played? Posterized?
I don’t understand what hisoka is getting at - “If you happy with the grade and wanted it to be put in a case you could send it in” … Don’t they regrade if you want it “official”/encased?
