Base set 2

Hi guy’s, long time lurker first time poster. I have a lovely base set 2, in your opinion is this worth hanging on to? I actually really like the holo’s from this set but as I have shadowless, unlimited base, jungle, fossil, rocket etc I already have these card’s in other decks.

Kind regards.

in my opinion, keep it, as a collector i tried to complete the entire wotc era, and didnt care about the reprints. If you sell your Base Set 2, im quite sure you’ll end up rebuying the cards later on to complete the set, once again.
Unless you’re looking for money for a new investment/card, and you must sell the set in order to get it, keep it!

Regards, Octavio.

Pretty much as Octavia has said. Unless you need the money keep it. It’s not going to grow that much financially but complete sets are a pain to rebuild if you every want it again.

I love the set myself, but it will never get near the levels of fossil/jungle.

Most collectors don’t care for it.

Right on, the best thing base 2 has going for it is the fact that the boosters are the cheapest in terms of pulling some original artworks from the old WOTC era.

I personally love the set too and have a complete holo set, but the value is just not there as compared to other sets. I think the Charizard in Near Mint condition goes for around 40 bucks, which is definitely cheap compared to any other sets zard.

Still I would keep it. ALL sets will go up in value, just don’t expect the moon.

I like the Base 2 Set also. It has a good story and I think it has a decent investible value in top condition.

Personally I love the holo patterns in base set 2, one of the best made i think.

Thanks for all the opinions, I will keep hold of it

What story does the set have? Cheers.

It reminded me of mtg revised which I always loved.
Also it gave kids the chance to get that elusive Charizard artwork which was long gone.

Base 2 is by far the worst Wotc set. Always the cheapest, and most likely will remain that way.

The cards/set will definitely sell and have activity. But the reason it’s cheaper than any other wotc set is because it’s the least desirable.

I’m on the keep it team too! I personally think it’s a cool set simply for the fact that the holo’s have the same artwork but a different holo pattern. I enjoy checking them out side by side! And the term “complete set” is also exciting to me haha

Fair enough

It seems to be way ahead of jungle and fossil and even base unlimited on ebay in the UK in value. Why do you think this is?

Snap I really do like the holo’s.
