This is true. I am thinking long term though. Say 5, 10 or 20 years from now. While base set unlimited had a lot of prints its still limited based on the fact that they don’t make the set anymore. Eventually price will rise and it will become scarce. When an individual cant get the supply they originally could due to being either expensive or not being sold they will move on to the next thing they can get there hands on. If we are going based on set order that would be Base Set 2. The collector community is growing rapidly, as it continues to grow the supply of old sets become harder to attain. I honestly think we will see that day very soon based on how fast this community is growing due to social media. Which will lead many to say “I wish i bought that card when it was easy to get and cheap”. We all have said that at least once as a collector.
I have base set two holos and I personally really like them, I have never really been fond of the cosmic holofoil that is until I actually gave them a chance. I used to hate base 2 I used to think it was a knockoff set but I like it now. Not many really payed attention to original team rocket now look all it takes is an article or some buyout for this set to rise too. I took the chance and bought them now so in the future I don’t have to look back and say should’ve would’ve could’ve if they go down in price so what I like the cards anyway.
Because players were clamoring for the originals for their decks but they were already on the secondary market for big prices so parents complained. A 4 week league drop convinced wizards to get that base 2 set out in a hurry and reprints are a quick do.
Ah ok, makes sense.
Yeah I think that’s what the Japanese do now as well, to help build up and strengthen decks.
Sometimes I forget it is a tcg not just a collectable. (:
