No, it would be the same scenario… He would still be upset getting $500 for that Blastoise or getting NM/PSA 7-8 $ on these cards that earned a PSA 10.
I think trading is great. Its one aspect I miss from back in the day. There’s just not a lot of collectors in my area and its tough finding a perfect trade for both parties. I just would not trade raw valuable cards like OP did, where a coue grades up is $1000+ difference.
Pokemon cards have a lot of value, therefore you can say it’s business. You are taking your friend’s business decisions personally.
He trades cards that he is comfortable trading and drives a hard bargain or just doesn’t want to part with his higher end stuff. That sounds pretty reasonable.
At the time of trading, both parties were happy with the terms and conditions of the trade. That is all that matters. What happens in the future is irrelevant.
I recently sold a couple hundred dollars worth of WWE stock a month before it doubled in price. That doesn’t mean I can call Vince McMahon and ask for take-backsies just because I watch and support his product.
The top right hand corner has a minor bend… how it got a 9 is beyond me. It also had several white marks on the back and a dent in the holographic. PSA can be a little triggering at times.
I feel like this isnt going to affect anything, in my head i’ve already let it go and i’m happy to move on with life and learn my lesson the hard way. I’m not treating him any differently and I am stronger now because of this.
Just seeing this now. Everything I want to say, has already been said. This is a good lesson to learn from though. I’ve done a few bad trades myself that I’ve regretted later, but those mistakes have helped me to become the collector I am today! I am sure you won’t let it happen again! Also, depending how close this friend is to you, always remember a REAL friendship is worth more than any piece of cardboard (Except a PSA 10 1st edition base set Charizard lol.). Keep your head up, and think of this bad trade as a investment into your wisdom as a collector.
You said you got a $500 card out of him right? In all seriousness though, you’re gonna be bitter and drop a friend over a difference of like 400 bucks ??
Im not going to drop the friendship no, and im not bitter either. I said i’ve moved on. I suggest you read the thread before making smart ass comments.
I read it front to back. You needed a consoling session because your friend got a grade you didnt think your card would get that made the trade around $400-500 better for him than for you. Then you got bitter that he wouldn’t trade it back and depressed thinking that he’s “using you” because he makes smarter trades than you do. Finally you said you won’t be trading with him any more. All because trades YOU PROPOSE lead to regret down the road. Sad times, 2018.
