Double? Make that more than four times as high. When it was revealed in October 2016 I made this post using the at the point current gold prices:
The gold price today for 24 karats (.999+ pure gold) according to the same calculator is 628.08 USD, or 471.06 USD for 18 karats.
Yet, the most recent sold solid golden Pikachu on PWCC last week went for 12,655.10 USD… 
I wish I had bought this card instead of my first car back then, haha.
