Atsuko Nishida artist collection | Garden

Hello everyone,

I wanted to introduce my new primary collection goal: collecting one of every standard size Japanese Atsuko Nishida artwork. In total, this collection will include just over 500 cards. I also plan on collecting some variants, such as DP-Promos, EX Battle Boost, and LEGEND series reverse foils. However, for cards with repeated artworks, like the Lottery Promo cards for Charizard and Venusaur which have cheaper deck alternatives, I plan on going with the more affordable versions in those cases. And yes, obviously there is no hope of collecting trophy cards.

For anyone familiar with my previous collection posts, I have always mainly drifted toward sealed products, especially Generation 4 sets (DP-DPt and the LEGEND era). But with the massive rise in popularity of the hobby, I was eventually priced out of those original goals. Since then, artist collecting has become the most rewarding and exciting part of the hobby for me, and honestly the most fun I have had since I first started all those years ago.

I would like to begin, well, at the beginning. However, for future posts, I won’t be making much of an effort to keep things in perfect order.

Rocket Gang | Japan, 1997, November | Complete

Gym Expansion 1, Leaders’ Stadium | Japan, 1998, October | Complete

As a note, there are variants of certain cards without rarity symbols for City Deck releases. I don’t have any desire to collect variants like this unless the artwork is exclusive to the release.

So many great cards, I love seeing the evolution of style which still stays instantly recognizable.

Of the ones of you’ve posted so far I love the holo Altaria, promo Torchic, Misty’s Goldeen, Erika’s Dragonair and Celfable.

Can’t wait to see more!

Love the soft style! This was also very well timed as i just few days ago decided to make a Nishida artist page inspired by her Paldean fates Phanpy

Fantastic idea! and thank you for uploading the scans, they look amazing!

Atsuko Nishida is my #1 favourite illustrator, though Himeno comes in a close second!

I’ve had a similar thought about making a binder for her cards. For now, I’ve set aside all my Atsuko Nishida cards in a box (about 50-100 cards at the moment), as I’m still figuring out how best to approach it.

I ran into the exact same challenges when deciding which cards to collect. I am happy you have it figured out!

I spent a few days creating a webpage to help with the collection, but then I found other websites that offer similar tools, so I’m not sure if I’ll ever finish it now.

Ideally, I’d love to collect every card in English OR Japanese but it feels unrealistic.

I still pick up an Atsuko Nishida illustrated card whenever I come across one I don’t have yet though. Hopefully one day everything will come together!

Thank you for sharing & I look forward to seeing your collection grow.
I think it’ll be one of the most beautiful and rewarding when it’s finished.

That’s amazing! Thank you for sharing, It’s certainly a very daunting task, I’m at the point now where I need around 75 or so cards to complete her artist collection, but many of them are high value. So for now, I’m just scanning eBay for auctions and good deals. Some cards aren’t even available for months at a time, and when they do come up they are often heavily played. If you need any help or advice feel free to reach out.

That’s wonderful, you should definitely try to pick up her McDonalds pack Phanpy if you get the chance. I was able to find my copy at a convention this year. Phanpy has always been one of my favorites ever since its first appearance in the anime.
