Armored Mewtwo Collector's Chest - How the hell....?

…Are you supposed to get the holo promos out safely without damaging them? (Armored Mewtwo, Charizard, Pikachu)

The plastic insert that hold the cards has plastic protrusions that prevent you from taking the cards out without ‘nicking’ either the top or bottom edge of each card. I even took a razor blade to the plastic insert to try to remove it so I could take out the cards safely, and they still ended up damaged!

Any techniques or pointers on this one??

Ok so just found the answer to my own question - pinching the card from the side and sliding it out - takes a bit of finesse but can be done without damaging the cards! Looks hard to get these in a 10 condition though, seems to explain the low pop…

The plastic that holds the promos in just about every tin and collection box was one of the Pokemon companies worst ideas yet… Why would they do that???

They have no idea what a top loader or card saver is. The few cents would really break their budgets

@thevenusaurgarden , tell me about it. Ordered about 40 of them, only got half a dozen 10’s. For an item with the word Collector in its name, there was a complete disregard for collectors when it comes to card condition.

Newer boxes seem to solve this problem by having the online code card on top of the promo card, meaning the plastic only damaged the online code card, which is fine by me as I don’t collect those.

Let’s hope that is a permanent change.
P.S.: One thing I started doing after several disapointments is to try and watch a few box opening videos on youtube and see if the promos I want are in proper condition before ordering. Problem with this though, is that if the product sells out on release I won’t be able to get it. League battle decks for example seem fine.

I dont think they care if it nicks the card a bit, if fact on the collect side this is better since this creates scarity for tens (creates chase).
