Are you a member of any other forums

just like the title says, inspired by the ‘active users’ post. I’ll go first,

hipinion - member
tfw2005 - lurker, no account

This topic was also made on hipinion last year to show that there are still plenty of active forums around on the internet

Im not good with stuff like this but i figured this forum is passionate about something i really love so i thought id give it a shot. I know of a couple others but im good with one account. I try to be really active.

I’ve been a member of 12-15 different forums since 2007, about a third of those have either shut down or are in some state of dormancy.

E4 is the only one I’m currently active on, I would say I visit 3 other forums that I’m a member of fairly regularly.

With regards to Pokemon, I have been a member of Smogon since 2011. I also registered an account at some norwegian forum that I don’t remember the name of.

Like c0ll3ct0r said, I’ve also been a member of many other forums in the past, for other fandoms (mainly Warrior Cats). E4 is the only one I’m a member of now and I mostly lurk here :stuck_out_tongue: I used to be very active on Neopets and then Flight Rising, including their forums there, those were lots of fun.

I was active for a few years on a coin collecting forum about 10 year ago, but other than that, this is the only forum I’m a part of

Here, Smogon and Blowout cards, just for their PSA turnaround thread

Side note, I am very glad you have decided to be an active member. You have been very active since you joined and have a very unique collection of stamped cards which I believe can easily become a great resource for others looking to collect the same. It’s awesome you are not lurking anymore.

Cheers!

I’m another member of TFW2005; joined that one well over a decade ago. It’s amazing how respectful and mature the discussion is on E4, compared to a lot of what you see there.

Also a member of The Fossil Forum. That place is an amazing pool of very knowledgeable people - can’t recommend it enough if you’re into fossils!

I’m a frequent lurker of the forums on collectorsedition, as I also collect steelbooks, and they have a few threads listing all (or almost all) steelbooks in existence for video games, which is my focus over movie steelbooks. It’s really helpful when I’m trying to find new things to browse for on eBay.

Some guilds in MMOs I’ve played over the years also utilized forums for a while, but this is the only forum I’m a member of these days.

I’m on a pretty active UK gaming forum called RLLMUK, and also a couple of almost-dead retro gaming forums that are just populated by a small handful of survivors from other, deceased forums. Those forums can have whole days with zero activity but still some good people on there who I have known digitally for many years.

Been on loads of others in the last, all under different usernames so it gets messy trying to remember which was which. The ones I had the most posts on were probably Eurogamer, and the official Retro Gamer Magazine forum (around 13k posts and 10+ years iirc). I lost interest in the aggressive, argumentative, trolling vibe of EG many years ago (maybe it changed but I wouldn’t recognise any users these days) and RG got closed down when a new publisher took over the physical magazine.

I’m on a couple of gaming ones but I’m not very active there. I used to be but not now. I also lurk on a few IT related forums which I use at work.

E4 is the only forum I’m active on now.

Omg, yes, tfw can get very messy and I only follow beast wars threads (3rd party and official )

The other forum I like to read is a video game one. It’s mostly collecting focused, but the playing subcategory is also decently active. Collections spread from super niche consoles I’ve never heard of before, the more standard NES-N64, Super Mario Bros variants, prototypes, homebrew, unlicensed games, variants of modern games and then more straightforward modern collections. Basically, it hits the same appeal as E4 to me where I get to read about all these games I wouldn’t have heard about otherwise.

I’ve been a member of a number of forums over the years. It’s a shame that social media has made such a dent in their usage, but the world’s going to change I suppose. The only other one I’m active on is a toy car one called Diecast Garage. It’s not too different from this place, subject matter and software aside. Some very knowledgeable and well respected members of the hobby post there and occasionally very special stuff gets shared in a way that just wouldn’t work on Instagram or TikTok or whatever.

got tempban’d on warriorcats for changing my username to gamefreak and someone reported it as offensive lmao

but as with others, used to be on many forums and now have mostly dwindled down to e4 as places go inactive and shut down. mostly pokemon ones- serebii, smogon, cave of dragonflies, ever grande/slateport, etc. but forums for other interests as well

forums getting smaller and fandom eating into the wiki space have been pretty sad for hobbies

Before Efour I think the last forum I was really active on were the ones on Gaia online since posting was mainly how you got gold to buy things for your avi. I miss those days as well :frowning:
