The main problem here is paying a PSA 10 price while if you crack it and regrade it would get a 9.

I’m not sure that I understand the problem here. If it is already graded PSA 10, why would someone crack and resubmit? It is likely to retain its value as a PSA 10.

The card is graded as a psa 10 but cert number is 2xxxxx so I don’t know if its 100% reliable.

Those telling you that there are differences by cert # are just trying to create a stir. That story has been said time and time again. There will be variability in PSA 10s across all certs.

Biased toward PSA Certification Numbers

Hi All, I would like to gauge the level of bias toward PSA certification numbers. Do you prefer newer/older certification numbers due to perceived differences in grading strictness (e.g., certifications under 2XXXXXXXX, 4XXXXXXXX, 5XXXXXXX, etc.)? Would you pay a premium for newer certifications? Why/Why not? Personally, I couldn’t care less about the certification number because I look at the card’s quality. Why are newer PSA cert #s worth more?

What are the basic fundamentals for why newer PSA certs are looked at a little more highly? (i.e. PSA cert 6xxxxxxx) The only thing I have read is because some believe the grading is now harsher. So, on average, a 10 on a newer cert means a little bit more than a 10 on an older cert (obviously, this is a generalization, as there will always be old 10s that are in phenomenal condition). But is there any other reason? For example, does PSA use new technology (scanners, etc.) that they didn’t use…
