They were posted around the same time, but one of the auctions just has more popularity over the other. Could this be because people do not care about Japanese cards as much or is it because English set is known as “EX Dragons” and the Japanese set is known as “Rulers of the Heavens”? Same thing is happening with the Dragonite cards of the same set.
English cards are worth more simply because of nostalgia so they’re more popular. That’s it for 95% of cases. There’s still thousands of us Japanese collectors, as well as people who collect both. Compared to other languages like Korean or Chinese, Japanese is miles ahead of them.
If you like Japanese cards, you’re in luck because they’re cheaper than English almost always. There’s nothing wrong with them and there’s no reason you or anyone else shouldn’t collect them.
Damn. The only modern card in my collection is a first edition mega lucario. Why did they get rid of first edition? It was a nice thing to see at the bottom left corner.
Have you not seen the scalper market?
The 1st editions would be horded by distributors. If any hit shelves, there would be people waiting at the shelves to buy them out. Normal people, kids, no one would have a chance at them without paying 5X market price.
This kills the whole market for many collectors and takes away any chance for the kid that buys a pack while at the store to pull a card that is worth anything. Meanwhile all none first editions would be collecting dust across the world, as no one would want them and their pretty much worthless cards.
It’s bad for the hobby and really bad for the young generation that wants to buy pokemon cards.
Store bought packs as they are, bring people into the hobby. Anyone had a chance to pull a good card, at MSRP. This is great for the health of the hobby.
Japanese exclusives, are the only hype for me in terms of modern collecting. The most modern set I have complete in english is Generations, specifically due to its release. Waiting each month for a new mythical collection box to be released was an exciting chase.
