I have a box of Opus 1 that i have had for a while now and i am considering cracking it open.

I would want to grade these. I’m in the UK, we have limited resources to get grading done safely and without headaches. My one source only does PSA. i would like to go Beckett but Christ almighty its expensive all in for us this side of the pond.

Does anyone offer a middle man service for UK collectors to BGS in the US?

Speaking of PSA… Has anyone ever experienced the timescale for a new game to be created to PSA authorizing grading before? Just wonder what the waiting time would look like for this collection to be PSA gradable…

PSA will grade them in due time. If I were you, I’d just hang out and wait for a bit. PSA is weird because they’ll grade some totally random stuff on release but are finicky about new TCGs. I’d guess they just want to be certain there will be sufficient interest in grading them to justify the back end work.

But I’m pushing to get them on PSAs system along with some other heavy submitters. So it will happen eventually.

Am I the only one that likes grading all non-pokemon non-sports cards with BGS?

Probably not but I definitely don’t share that sentiment. I hate the aesthetic of Beckett cases/labels. So whenever I can, I opt for PSA.

I honestly don’t understand why there is a desire to start grading a new TCG this early.

Yes, it’s Final Fantasy, but these cards in PSA10 will be common and I doubt any Final Fantasy fan will buy a PSA10 Cloud or Sephiroth just to put on the shelf and to look at. Also, you have the problem of the cards being released in not just English. And we all know, PSA (dunno about BGS) are asses when it comes to non-English product. So you get this totally worthless French or Spanish product vs PSA graded/gradable English product.

I rather see PSA picking up older TCG, giving e.g. Star Trek, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z some boost for collectors than seeing a stormflood of PSA10 English Sephiroths on eBay next April.

Decent deal on Opus 3 from DAcardworld

Another deal if you collect newer stuff. Probably the lowest advertised price I’ve seen for a recent set at a retail store:

I don’t understand being frustrated because people want to grade their trading cards.

exactly. I like the artwork, the characters or the theme to a card. I simply like grading as a way of preserving a card and able to display it. I have tons of non Pokemon cards set aside for this. Some are just commons that I really enjoyed the flavor and design of the card.

So don’t jump on people for just because they grade a new tcg or are in a hurry to grade a new card.

I only reason I’d mind is because muy wallet would hate me. I’ve already spent my budget for the next week buying for my base set collection.

Some more mail! A couple of Foil Legends, and 2 foil promos. FFTCG does it a bit differently in that when they release a promo it comes in a foil and non-foil variant.

Some more Legends in the mail, and my first booster box.

So I haven’t updated for a while but I have had a load of new stuff come in. I am tracking well to complete my set of Legend Foils from all 3 Opus sets. I am now beginning work on the non-foil Legend cards as well. I’ll put most of the new photos in links as to not clog up the loading, but I’ll embed a few of the ones I want to feature.

If anybody viewing this thread is interested in getting into collecting this series of cards then please feel free to ask questions.

Cool cards!

You’re tempting me to collect them as well now!

Maybe something for you? Haha

Not surprised, but also absurdly priced. Neat none the less.

I was curious and bought two booster packs of Opus 2 while shopping. Most of the artworks are still boring but I like the thicker cards and the cardback. Too bad many of the cards have damaged edges probably because of the thick cardboard and/or blunt knives.

That’s a real shame that you see damaged edges, I haven’t had any cards like that :slightly_frowning_face:

It’s not as bad as the english Shining Legends though :stuck_out_tongue:

Ha.

I am glad you appreciate the quality of the card otherwise, however. It’s so nice to feel a thick card with a nicely textured back.

Any updates on whether psa will start grading these? @milhouse
