This guy just regurgitated all of the complaints everyone has had over the last couple of months. He literally said nothing new.
Also, a few things he said made me laugh:
1.) He pointed out differences in worlds, like going from Sinnoh to Unova and how noticeable the difference was. He then said that the difference from Alola to Galar isn’t noticeable. Bull crap. There is a very clear difference in graphics, textures, etc. between Alola and Galar, probably even moreso than Sinnoh and Unova.
2.) He brought up how the animations in the Chinese knockoff look so much better than animations in Sword and Shield, completely neglecting to mention that there were less than 100 Pokemon to use in the Chinese game, giving them MUCH more room to work on animations.
3.) He kept talking about all of the “features that had been cut,” but the only feature that had been cut that he mentioned was the National Pokedex. Dude, there are currently over 800 Pokemon. When Sword and Shield comes out, there will be around 1,000. ONE. THOUSAND. I completely understand that you have your favorites. I get it. But one of the most fun parts (if not THE biggest) of a new Pokemon game is the new Pokemon. Funny concept, right? Seriously. One of the primary things I hear people complaining about when it comes to Sword and Shield is the National Pokedex. If THAT’S your biggest complaint, then oh well.
Look: I’m not one of these people that is going to defend Game Freak at every corner. They absolutely have room for improvement, and some of the complaints about Sword and Shield are completely valid.
But this dude literally said nothing in his video. It was nearly 24 minutes of speaking in circles, not to mention that everything he said was, again, already stated countless times by other people. The central point of his whinefest was the National Pokedex. Jesus. How much do we need to hear it already?
Not only that, but he voices what is literally his opinion and states that he (and others) are allowed to have a negative opinion on the games while also basically telling everyone who disagrees with him that they are wrong in the process. Arrogance at is finest.
The best part is you know damn well he will be buying the game(s) on release day, just like 99.9 percent of the rest of the people who are whining and moaning about the games.
Like I said: I am all for Game Freak doing a better job. There are unquestionably implementations they can take to make the mainline Pokemon games better, but at the same time, they have been using this general formula for over two decades and it has made them billions and billions of dollars. And the more I hear people like this guy endlessly complain, the more I just roll my eyes.
But yeah. The future of the most profitable media franchise ON THE PLANET is “worrying.” Lol.
