I found this WB stamp dragonite last night, and the stamp immediately caught my eye.
The “pokemon” portion is much thinner then a normal stamp and missing the stamp altogether in a couple spots (e.g. half moon shape inside the “P”, top and bottom of the first “o”, the half moon shape inside the “e”, and the bottom of the left lower leg of the “k”.)
“Kids WB Presents” appears to be the same as a normal one. But the “The First Movie” portion also appears to be a very little bit thinner printed as well (e.g. the “i” has no dot).
This is the “thin” version:
This is a normal one:
I checked all my other WB movie cards (all 4 arts) and none of them had a thinner stamp like the dragonite I just found has. So I was wondering has anyone else come across this before? Everyone go check your WB cards! I wonder if this could be considered a variant or if this is just a subtle one off.
Hmmmm I think you may need to adjust your spectacles, I’m not sure how you cant see the difference here. I dont see any variance in placement at all haha. But I wasnt going to try and sell it anyway. But it is for sale for $12,000
haha it is. I’m just poking fun! I would say these wb stamps are just slight variations. maybe the stamper didn’t apply enough pressure? or the materials were running low? Idk but stamps are always wonky and usually lack complete uniformity. I bet a pikachu collector would buy that pikachu for a good price.
Oh I know you were dude, I didnt take any offense haha. I’ve only seen the show a couple of times, the style of art just looked familiar. Well as time goes on I’ll see if I see anymore like it!
Tbh, even if it’s a Pikachu I wouldn’t pay more for it than a regular one. I do see the difference, but in this case I don’t really see it as an entirely new variation. Just like color differences are pretty normal between cards, and I don’t collect all color variation for a single card, unless it’s pretty extreme.
If more pieces were missing entirely, like for example on this Pikachu World Collection 2000 stamp below, then I would have definitely be interested. But apart from a very tiny part of the middle of “e” in “Pokémon”, most of the stamp is thin, but not completely gone.
