You’re definitely not the only one, @fazool. The more amazing unique artworks I see in Pokémon Pocket, the more I f-ing hate the game exist. And I’m especially sad for all species collectors that have no FA cards irl, but have one for their Pokémon locked away in a game… ![]()
Don’t get me wrong, I know why they do it like this: if all the artworks would be recycled from physical TCG cards, the game wouldn’t be as popular. Still, as someone who primarily collects the TCG, or just physical collections in general, I think Pocket is a waste of all the amazing Pokémon illustrators’ talents and hard work.
I do hope we’ll eventually get these cards as physical TCG cards as well. Even if it means we’ll have to wait 4-5 years for them. But seeing as we also didn’t get the artworks from the Japanese illustrations magazine, I don’t have much hope.
And with the amount of unique artworks in Pokémon Pocket, I doubt we’ll get all of them, even if they do decide to print some of them as physical TCG cards a few years from now…
Also, when I ranted before in the PokéBeach comment section, someone mentioned this:
And although (s)he’s not incorrect, I’d much rather would have never seen these artworks in the first place, then seeing them and knowing they’ll never be available.
Anyway, after a few weeks of hate on the game, right now I mostly feel tired and indifferent about them. I personally cope by just viewing these artworks as digital bootlegs, just like any other custom made artwork on Etsy, since that’s all there is to it if they’re not available as TCG cards.
