So I wanted to share this here as I feel a whole thread could go on about it, but I SPECIFICALLY want the focus of this to be the outcome of attitude and perspective as opposed to what went down. Rusty here (TCAGaming), encountered a truly unfortunate and rough situation in where he had PSA open up packs of his and send them back to him which he was trying to get graded. The full details of it all can be found in this video and the one he made previously when first getting them back, but ideally around the 7 minute mark in the one below is what I really wanted to touch on which was his breakdown of the situation and how hes going about handling the issue at large.
There are many instances of unfortunate circumstances that may happen in collecting like this, and many ways we all as collectors can respond. A lot of the time, being the majority of us are all so passionate about Pokemon its inevitable that when something rough happens we might react with heavy emotions as opposed to going the route of thinking logistically. And in that is where a lot of unneeded things can occur such as fights, drama, name calling, finger pointing etc etc, and anything else that might drive us away from our goals and bring us to areas of discontent that we dont need to be in. But here, Rusty truly shines in breaking down his handling of the situation and showing that its ok to be upset and frustrated while also fighting to resolve something that would enrage all of us. That level of professionalism, poise, and determination is really something to note and prop up, so I just wanted to give a lot of recognition to him and anyone else whom also has handled situations in such a responsible way. It truly is something im working on for myself, and this video is just yet another example of good role models in Pokemon we all need to look up to as opposed to what weve seen in other places in the past few weeks.
Thanks Rusty. Wishing you the best on the situation here and I hope others here could also chime into this act of strength to help spread some positive vibes today. Lets get some nice love rolling for more goodhearted people.
Such a terrible situation, but you always handle things with grace and patience, Rusty. I know I’d be less-than-polite on those phone calls, and the “video proof” they can’t provide you really feels like gaslighting. I appreciate the message in the video a lot and think it’s valuable to have someone in your position speak out about instances I’m sure a lot of smaller collectors might deal with but don’t have the resources or platform to share. Positive thoughts… Keep being awesome!
How he is handling it is part of the reason why he’s one of my favorites to watch. Buddhist teaching shows us that letting anger influence our actions only makes them worse. Keep it up TCAgaming. I appreciate it
On the real, who would do this to Rusty and not fix it immediately? It’s also scary knowing someone as respected as Rusty would get treated this way.
I wonder if Nat Turner is aware of the shady practices PSA staff takes to not pay out. This is not only an issue where items are damaged by PSA but misgraded items. The financial guarantee they have is bullshit and everyone knows it. Its frustrating as hell and you have handled it with grace @thecharizardauthorty . Look forward to the next update video.
Rusty is a legend in this hobby and a pleasure to do business with. Wouldn’t be the same without him. And thanks again for the free card you sent me in my order around Christmas a few years ago when you thought I was @fourthstartcg,
I’m wondering why anyone would send sealed product to be authenticated by PSA? If this is how they treat one of the biggest names in the hobby, who they know has a major social media presence, just imagine how PSA would treat a normal customer. It seems like they could care less about the integrity of their sealed product grading/authentication process, let alone making things right with their customers. Given TCA’s opened packs and the mis-authenticated Base 1st case, and several videos from the past of pretty obvious fake packs being authenticated by PSA, I don’t understand why anyone would trust PSA with sealed product.
