7/14/12 - Ash's/May's/Brock's Starters

I was just kidding too. I did all of that research out of pure boredom and in no way did I expect everyone to take it completely serious :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh lol I was just taking advantage of an opportunity to point out an interesting Canada factoid. You know, since the USA for the most part still think we live in igloos lmao. We Canadians love to educate others about ourselves . I couldn’t give a rats ass about how dates are laid out

Nah, Americans know that only the eskimos live in igloos.
When someone says Canada to an American, they usually think of Canadian bacon being amazing, hemp bars, how books always have a higher price for Canada written on the back, and how Canadians say “ay” after everything :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve never heard of hemp bars, and yeah our back bacon is mighty good “eh” yeah the igloo thing is a common joke among Canadians but it’s almost rooted in fact. At least once a year I do have to explain to a Floridian that polar bears do not roam Canada and that we actually have big cities just like in the states. Every year I go to Florida, less and less people think that the igloo thing is true but you’d be surprised that the odd one still swears by it.

Also I should stop posting about Canada as I’m way off topic and not contributing anything useful at all :stuck_out_tongue:

Forgot about those three. I believe the creative plural for moose would be moosi or mooseses.

Hahaha thanks for making me laugh. The contentment in that is great :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s interesting knowing that the stereotypes about Canada that I have been exposed to are entirely different from those mentioned thus far. The ones I hear about are a clogged system of socialized medicine, one-sided politics, a lack of military and Canada being the only country we ever shared something with (Niagara Falls). Of course, those might all be the result of living in the Bible Belt. Haha.

I should mention that none of these things have been a part of my experiences with Canada. I frequently visited when I lived in Buffalo, New York and the only thing I remember being particularly different was road signs in French.

The things I posted earlier are for what I assume to be the average (stereotypical) American.
My Canadian stereotypes still include Canadian bacon, but also include their system of medicine, their lack of military presence globally, and illegal Canadian immigrants.

I love Canadian healthcare! I can break every bone in my body and not pay a cent. I hear it’s quite expensive breaking an arm in the states :stuck_out_tongue: plus if I need some obscure surgery fast (those things have long-ish waiting lists here since it’s free) then I hop on a plane to the states and pay for it. Best of both worlds!

Funny you should mention our military (lack there-of). We as Canadians make a joke about how excessive the US military is. Then again, you guys have enemies (sort of) whereas we’re pretty neutral. We’re useless though, if it were a game of risk I would hope no one attacked us because we’d be toast!

That’s an interesting way of looking at it. Haha.

Really Reina? I know that my parents don’t have insurance and when I broke my brothers arms (I know :slightly_frowning_face: lmao) a couple years ago and we didn’t pay anything. Unless you’re talking about things much more major than that. Apparently I need to brush up on my Canada knowledge though, before I start spreading sub-standard information!

Edit: According to what I’ve looked up, OHIP (Ontario Health Care, because I live in Ontario) covers all emergency and necessary procedures as well as unlimited doctor visits. The only things it doesn’t cover are prescription drugs, alternative medicine (incl. physio and chiro), dental, and cosmetic procedures. All those listed among other little things are not covered. So I don’t think I was out in left field :stuck_out_tongue:

How about instead of talking about times, dates, and healthcare, we discus the pretty pieces of cardboard. Not trying to be a dick or anything, but I mean, come on!

Hahahaha oh Canada :stuck_out_tongue:

Good idea Tolan - So, which one is your favorite?

I like the Treeko because of the ocean in the backround

Mudkip is the best.

END DISCUSSION :stuck_out_tongue:

The pond with stars, come on!

Since I’m going to stay on topic this time :stuck_out_tongue: I like the Mudkip the best too!

If I had to rank them, I would probably rank them as such:

  1. Mudkip
  2. Torchic
  3. Treeko

My list would be Torchic > Treecko > Mudkip because of Mudkip’s empty background and frowny face. In terms of the Pokemon themselves I prefer Mudkip to Torchic and Torchic to Treecko though.

I agree with Frost - My list is Torchic then Treecko then Mudkip.
