This card isn’t feel good in design so much as backstory for me. My best childhood friend got given one of the collector tins this promo was from and happened to have an extra Pikachu promo inside it. They gave this extra to me without a second thought! Me and this friend shared an intense love of Pokémon growing up and, though we eventually grew apart, this card conjures fond memories of them and a childhood well spent.

Card from the X/Y era, Steam Siege expansion.
That expansion is one of the least loved in the history of the TCG — supposedly because it doesn’t have “pretty” cards.
I’ve always felt it’s more because they don’t sell for high prices than because it doesn’t have good cards — but that’s just my opinion.

People who know me or at least have heard of me know that E5 Delibird is my favourite Pokémon TCG card … Every time I see it, I feel very happy …

I like this card (Terrakion in general) because it reminds me of my dog. They both look very similar in color.

Will definitely have to go with Super Saiyan Nidoking! Pictures don’t do this card justice. This holo shimmer treatment was not given to the english counterparts.

The Nido family have such a ‘classic’ Pokémon feel to me - the kaiju-y monsters, like these guys and Rhydon, played a big part in securing my initial interest in the franchise as a kid. I was never completely sold on the high angle Nidoqueen is depicted from in this card, but I do love how fittingly regal and purposeful she looks as she makes her way through the ruins.

My first preconstructed deck. The card design isn’t my favorite, but Kawayoo’s artwork for the deck is sublime. What’s special about the card is the “cracked ice” holo.

Note: I miss when decks had their own name. Their own themed logo. Now they’re so plain and boring.
