Have a random question regarding the 2007 Spring Collector’s Tins.
On Bulbapedia they mention that the ‘International’ 2007 Spring Collector’s Tins were the POP Series cards Celebi ex, Tyranitar ex & Ho-oh ex. I don’t see any mention of POP Series 1 Armaldo ex. Was that not also released alongside the 2007 Spring Collector’s Tins? It has the same Tin design as the others so I would assume so.
I don’t know the correct term for the Armaldo tin or if it was released besides the others, but what I do know is that the contents differ between those tins. The Celebi/Tyranitar/Ho-Oh tins have PK/DS/DF packs and the Armaldo tin has PK/CG/DF packs.
So my best guess is that the Armaldo tin was released separately at some other point in 2007 since it has different contents from the spring tins.
Bulbapedia claims that the Celebi/Tyranitar/Ho-Oh tins weren’t released in North America, which I know to be false because I have quite a few of these exact tins laying around from childhood (empty, unfortunately lol) as well as all of those exs.
So it’s clear that Bulbapedia doesn’t have trustworthy info on them lol. It would be nice to have an accurate database of all EX Series sealed products because Bulbapedia’s database has a ton of holes and inaccuracies (maybe I’ll work on one!).
Agree - I’m leaning more toward the Armaldo ex Tin being released alongside these other (Tyranitar, Ho-Oh, Celebi) tins since the contents appear to be the same (with CG & DS swapped occasionally).
As for the ‘International’ I wonder if it’s trying to imply that the Piplup, Chimchar, Turtwig tins were exclusive to NA but the Tyrantiar, Celebi, Ho-Oh, Armaldo was both (NA + elsewhere)?
If that is all one sealed product like it looks like - then they were definitely released together (literally) in some capacity. Now I wonder where the Celebi ex tin is? Haven’t been able to dig up a pic of that (haven’t tried terribly hard since I took the Bulbapedia write up as correct).
Just discovered something interesting: the Celebi ex comes in the same tin (Camerupt art) as Ho-Oh ex. Whereas the Tyranitar and Armaldo each have their own unique tin arts (Tyranitar and Milotic , respectively). This makes me think that maybe the Celebi ex was released separate from the Ho-Oh/Armaldo/Tyranitar since it would be a weird decision to give two of the exs distinct tin art and have the other two share the same tin art.
Additionally, based on the picture above, it seems the Celebi ex has 4 ex booster packs (vs 3 for the other tins). Perhaps Celebi was released later in 2007 as you say.
Sorry to bump this but these tins in particular are very interesting. I recently purchased a TTAR and Armaldo tin which both have 4 packs inside (DF, CG, DF, HP). I have heard the 4 pack variant is rarer and worth more than the 3 pack variant.
It does seem that the Bulbapedia entry is incorrect with regards to these tins.
