2007 Danish Nationals Fanmade Cards and Authentication Process

Sb posted a bunch of these, including other worlds sets I had no idea what they were…

Pretty crazy that Goldin accepted those fanmade cards after the playtests/prototypes controversy.

Yeah im sitting here wondering when someone else will print scans of these. If a custom card can get autheticated, then customs of the customs can too right?

I actually agree that would be a very good idea with these

Print dot jokes aside, this is much different from the Akabane playtests and even some of CGC’s other questionably “authentic” cards. With the Akabane cards you could reasonably argue that CGC was intentionally deceived as to the cards origin. They obviously didn’t do their due diligence and put themselves in a position to be taken advantage of, but CGC has plausible deniability and have handled the refund process well for those affected.

With the variety of aftermarket NFC cards that CGC has slabbed, they aren’t labeled as NFC but at least they came from a Pokemon factory and the sheets they were cut from were legit.

With these cards, CGC was fully aware of their origin story yet nevertheless chose to “authenticate” them in the manner they have done. There’s no plausible deniability or gray area. They literally authenticated a fan-made printed-and-glued card as a “Pokemon Trophy,” and they knew the fans printed the cards themselves!

I only think it is half way a joke. The way these are labeled is ridiculous and the situation is horrible.

Imagine though that these can also easily be replicated in the same fashion haha. They are definitely just made on normal at home printers so what a crazy thing it would be if these were recreations from those ones that had appeared a while ago

Very very unlikely but man would that really just be the end
