1996 Japanese Base Set Deck

Has anyone noticed the price increase on these? I know the markets blazing but for years these were forgotten or maybe people didn’t realize there was a guaranteed holo until more recently. I can only find 1 for sale on eBay, what’s everyone’s take on these?

I wouldnt ever collect them, but theyre a neat part of history.

Got pics? No idea what were looking at

Pic for reference

Yeah, same with Japanese packs. For some reason I never bought a deck. I see $5k now? And not even for the no rarity ones.

Do not pay a premium on the short codes expecting to pull no rarity.

jw, why not?

Just a subjective thing. I dont collect decks, but I appreciate them.

Even if you manage to get your hands on a short crimp pack, or the short code decks, there is no guarantee you get no rarity cards. It is similar to short crimp shadowless but probably even less deterministic.

I think decks are just more looked over in general. People are mostly pack collectors. That said, I love these decks. Guaranteed holo, more cards than a pack and they often go for just a little over the pack price. Not anymore though it seems…

Great reply, that’s exactly how I felt it was over the years but during this recent boom things changed. The decks are pretty cool for the reasons you mentioned and I’d imagine were more rare than finding a sealed pack in the wild.
