12 CGC 10 Disco Test Prints Sell for Cheap on Fanatics Collect

I don’t even understand why people bought the play tests. Buy real test prints. The real play tests exist, and there is a collector that has them and hasn’t marketed them to the masses.

Personally I think the play tests looked dumb. Discos look like those bootleg stickers to some and I get that. Everyone has their thing!

Side note: uh oh. lol

Perfect example of how BINs can manipulate the market price. Yes, you should consider all data. But there is some necessary understanding by buyers and sellers that BINs may present as outliers.

At this point I think we’re both arguing the same point except it’s getting lost in translation

Except, you like outliers and I don’t.

i would argue that past comps are in the past, and really only matter for stuff that sells on a regular basis. if someone brings me some past comps on a card that sells pretty infrequently and wants it for x i might or might not sell it for x but if i do its not b/c of whatever it sold for in the past

most of the stuff i have up dont have that many comps compared to say moonbreon (maybe only base set charizards or something)

I like data that tells me prices of sold cards

In this case I’m just talking about your discos.

Also: maybe this helps you guys understand me. I understand that a BIN is not a direct comp, it is just a price point to go off of. I get it. It is still a comp that can’t be ignored. (Unless it sold for $2 or something stupid.)

If I want a disco, I’m going to formulate an offer based on what they have sold for and how recent. Then it’s up to the seller to decide if they want to accept that. If they want to ask WAY too much for one, well I guess they don’t like money.

i dont even have that many left (think only 2) if i overpaid for them in the past whatever i sold from that lot has covered for all of them

There you go, guess you found the right buyer.

It’s not that hard to get. The reason people here are often critical of CGC is exactly related to the fact that they now carry the largest grading blunder in all of card grading history. It’s not a coincidence that CGC was the one to grade the playtests when no other company did.

I don’t know if anyone here cares if you buy CGC cards or grade with them. What I don’t get is why it’s not just the assumed reasonable position that many people - especially those directly affected - would be turned off of CGC (the company responsible for the largest grading blunder in all of card grading history) especially when it comes to oddity items. Multiple people have come out and directly shared that personal opinion right here in this thread. Can I at least get the ability to be displeased by them after directly suffering the consequences of their failure?

My question is, what does CGC have to do for you to understand, at the very least, why people may be hesitant about what they do. And why is the largest grading blunder in all of card grading history not enough?

Sure, I’m not saying you can’t be upset by being had by something you were told was legitimate by a company that only exists to authenticate these items. I get it. But for me, I also never trusted them and never had any interest because of a few key factors:

1: Look who was pumping them
2: why are they all getting 10’s (even the disco 10 is a little far fetched)
3: Why now? Why are they ALL coming out now after all this time.

CGC has helped me authenticate an ACTUAL test print I found locally here where WOTC was, and I trust its authenticity. I can authenticate things myself too. That’s really it. It’s a blunder but they’re correcting it. What more do you want?

The amount of instant likes you get for your opinion is hilarious too, nobody wants to back me up? Ok then.

That’s all I’m asking for, thanks. You can ignore the peanut gallery, we’re just having a discussion.

Just because you have an opinion doesn’t mean people are required to agree with it. It’s not a conspiracy, you’re just in the minority.

Never asked them to. I just said I know when I’m right. Sorry, might sound abrasive but it’s the truth. Nobody said anything about a conspiracy. I’m in the minority but also someone who doesn’t care about speaking my mind.

Also I’d like to point out the early skepticism by a few people who are remaining silent here who called that the play tests were illegitimate from the get-go. Just saying.

I love it lol

To be clear as I said earlier. I have minimal doubt about the Disco print being holo testing sheets. My only point was that my appetite for such cards has been greatly diminished as a direct result of my experience with the playtest situation.

Like if I got food poising from a can of soup, rationally I know that going to the store and buying another can is not likely going to cause food poising again. But emotionally I might not be interested in that brand anymore.

This is a completely fair and valid reason, my main gripe is when it comes to anything with the word “test” in it and CGC is involved the forum doesn’t give it a chance at all. But, understandable if you bought the play tests.

I instant liked your post, as it was more succinct than your previous responses, but it’s just a like, pfm just consistently makes great posts, which naturally get more likes. His ideas are typically concise, easy to understand, with little to no venom, and tend to represent many readers perspective. Anyway just trying to explain it’s not not a conspiracy, pfm is just concise af! Also by the time my boomer self gets this posted the conversation will have already moved on!
